Saudi Arabia Building an City Dedicated to Military Industry

This year Saudi Arabia is planning to establish an entire city dedicated only to military industry in Al-Kharj.

Engineer Saleh Al-Easheed head of MODON stressed the importance of the project stressing the sharp rise in military industry in KSA and the many plants and factory plans that have been submitted to MODON regarding it.

The city will be managed jointly by The Ministry of Defense and MODON, The city will also include a training and vocational center as well as colleges in Engineering and computer sciences.

Exactly. Well spoken 7abibi. Our rulers are not dumb. A lot of positive developments are happening as we speak. The GCC is not leading in most aspects in the Arab and Muslim world for nothing. But much more needs to be done.

My greatest hope is to see a self-sufficient Arab world in terms of industrialization. This is why I am extremely happy that science and especially natural sciences are such popular among Arabs in the GCC and all the recent gigantic projects.

Our future economies and societies are not going to depend on humanists although they are also needed.

We need to regain our former glory. It will take time, it will be hard, it will take a lot of sacrifice, a lot of our huge proudness and sometimes stubbornness need to be changed, but I am sure we will do it. We need to. Insha'Allah everything will be good in the end. We deserve it. Especially Yemen.

I know that I am not in a position to say this. And I said this before out of teasing others, but never believed in it. Islam was for Muslims and being Arabs or decedents of the prophet and Sahabah don't make us better or less than non Arabs at all. Another thing, Arabs is not an ethnicity but rather a group of people who have similar or at least close language, culture, tradition, religion, history and dreams. Talking about ethnicity and color have nothing to do with Arabs. I consider Arab a nationality.

Sure, although that definition differs. My point was just to show him that the local Arab population of KSA has not changed just because the current-day territory of KSA was known under different names once.

Nowhere did I say that this makes anyone better or worse. But the history of our people does not change just because the name of the country changes. Saudis from Hejaz for example, whose ancestors were part of many empires, were still the same Hejazis regardless of which rule they were part of.

Ok, but what would you do in a unstable region like Middle East if one of your rivals talked about developing a nuclear weapon and made indirect threats? Especially if you had the money?

The thing is that we Muslims don't have the abilities to produce better weapons than those the USA is offering. Nobody has. Israel themselves are relying on American weapons.

The solution is education and more education and wise investments. In that way the region will ultimately become self-sufficient. But since the Middle East is the most rich region in terms of natural resources and have a enormous strategic position and religious influence then many outsiders are doing everything to create divisions and trouble and the various regimes live on those divisions.

Small steps are always better than none.

Anyway maybe our great-grandchildren will live in better societies that are more self-sufficient. It might also become worse! Nobody but Allah (swt) can predict the future.
