wow.. always thought eating in banana leaf is exclusive to South Indian culture. Didn't know it's a part of Parsi culture too..

banana leaf is also used in konkan region of maharashtra...but i never knew parsis use it too

very nice thread i must say, well parsis community has done lot for the development of our country .

But sadly their numbers are decreasing ,well something must be done about that.
BTW parsi girls are good looking
HEEE HEEE:lol:

Patra ni macchi.

The sutarfeni is also eaten in Karachi.

Let's my great great grandmother was Parsi, but we're all conservative Hindus.

Doesn't have to be.

A recent decision by the Karachi’s apex Parsi trust to give children of women married to non-Zoroastrians the right to adopt their mother’s religion has generated interest in Mumbai where the community is still divided over the issue.

Ya we have the same tamasha going on here. For such a small community, we have an amazing ability and appetite for politics and histrionics. There are isolated priests (dastoors) who are performing the Navjote for such kids, but its being resisted by the established Punchayats and Head Priests of the main Atash Behrams. Thay are the voices who count and they are nowhere close to ready as things stand today. The ZYA and ZYNG are up in arms. Its all very dramatic.

I think bottom line is that for the next 100years, the Mumbai Parsi Punchayat should sponsor all young Parsis completely so that they are taken care of financially, so that they can concentrate on sex and procreation night and day. Use science where needed. Have an orgy if necessary. Do what they do in zoos to endangered species. Bottom line. Breed in overdrive.

Sutarfeni is traditionally gujarati food. But since, Karachi has many Gujarati/Kachchi I can understand why they eat it. :) Stop claiming our food as your own! looool :P jokes :D

And yeah I know, but I'm 1/16 Parsi, so my great grandfather needs to accept my his mum's religion for us to be Parsis (religiously) but that's not possible since he passed away like 50 years ago. I'm born to both Hindu parents but I wouldn't mind if I was Parsi though. Apparently Avestas (Parsi) and Vedas (Hindu) are written in similar languages, talks about same theories.

Sutarfeni is traditionally gujarati food.

Ours is slightly different in taste (essences used) and has rose petals instead of all the dry fruits shown. I like soaking mine in milk and eating it like sweet sewai.

We have giant jalebis also. Fish shaped mawa larvos (for fertility). And huge cone shaped boondi ladoos. Also chikkat halwo. Let me dig up photos. :)

Ha ha. A parsi should be penalised for possessing condom. And free kamasutra for every parsi will help too. :)

It's the usual tussle between the conservatives and the reformists in any religion, I guess.

Weird. Someone told me it was Parsi, originally from Iran. But there are a lot of gujarati speakers (yours truly) in Karachi, so your theory is also possible.

Never tried it, and yeah mawa na and bundi na larvas are the bomb! Mouth watering stuff!

Yes it is but Parsis are Gujarati so technically a Gujarati sweet.

But then again so is Samosas, Jalebis and Naan bread. Mughals/Persians have influenced North Indian food so much.

do parsis wear tilak too? why do they wear it?

If you care to look back
Anti Islamic posts weren't started by Indians but by some Iranian himself

Post #60, some dude flying Netherlands flags. Anyways, that's is not the concern here, so no need for anyone to pull their pants down.

Please everyone, carry on with this discussion :D I find their history fascinating.

I found this, is this Dari different from Afghan Dari?

Dari language (Zoroastrian) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not by much. Afghan dari is coarser (more guttural).

Parsi sweets

Never eaten any of these apart from first 4 sweets. I suppose the latter ones are exclusive to Parsi community.
