The Othmons were not that great at the end of their rule. All Othmon Empire countries went far behind the West, Japan, Russia, USA in every field during the Othman Empire rule. They were the central government, so you can blame to for a lot of things... Also, what the Arabs did to the Othmon Empire, is not worse than what the Othmon Empire did to Egypt from 1831-1841. Egypt was at the best time of its histroy since the Pharaohs time, and was about to become the next Islamic Super Power. The Othmons were about to be replaced by a strong actual Islamic power. Instead of helping them, they let France, Britain, Austria, Prussia, and Russia deal with Egypt for them... I know its all histroy, but don't make it seem like the Othmons had any power at the end of their rule, because they didn't, and they did a lot of mistakes. That is why the Turkish people got rid of them, they had enough of them.

They did great thing, don't get me wrong. But they are responsible for the good and the bad... If they took care of education more, we could have had a Renaissance of our own. We missed it, and we missed the industrial revolution... But to be fair, it didn't turn out to be better for most Muslim countries after the Ottoman empire collapse, and most are missing out the digital revolution.

I just read the Wikipedia article concerning Muhammad Ali. I never realized how influential and important he was, just wow. He transformed Egypt completely during his time, he even won all his wars against the Ottoman empire, which is extremely impressive. He came as far as Konya and even won the battle there Battle of Konya - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, but he returned after and made a deal with the Ottoman Sultan, even though he could march on to the Ottoman capital and claim the throne. He was indeed visionary and succesfull in comparison to Mahmud II, maybe if they marched and claimed the throne we would see a different Turkey and Middle East today.
