China has quite a few martial arts schools in the country, some with thousands of students. There are also national tournaments and competitions too, but it's hardly ever exciting. Should China create something similar to the MMA? Let the fighters beat each other into submission. Kung Fu is a deadly art, but it's promotion has been nothing short of pathetic. No one respects the art if its only for talents shows or movies stunts. Like a lot of people, I want to see Kung Fu in its true potential. I think the attitude of Kung Fu needs to be changed from passive to aggressive.

It would be a great national sport.

indian martial arts is no where close to the level and sophistication of chinese martial arts. nice try.

Debatable, first know about Indian Martial Arts then comment.

Whats ur knowledge about Indian Martial Arts apart from Wiki -knowledge?

Kung-Fu is very effective and damn good martial art though.

gung fu is more for show these days.... no doubt chinese martial arts is however more refined then most others.

i do think muay thai is a far more effective martial art

yea, it's pretty sad. what a waste of a beautiful and deadly art. if only the attitude changed towards it.

The problem with Kung Fu is the attitude towards it. Chinese Kung Fu teaches you also to be kind and gentle, and also passive! The students may become deadly fighters but they're mindset is too timid. Competition needs to be encouraged in Chinese martial arts schools, and the best students need to be rewarded.

a lot of chinese martial arts only work against chinese martial arts.... you got to think these arts were refined around other martial arts. while someone is jumping around doing flips or whatever.. another person doesnt bother putting on a performance too.. they just smash em lol.

in a street fight, gung fu can come in handy, but on the most part is ineffective as once again.. it is mostly for show and lacks power... hence why bruce lee adapted and created jeet kune do.. no more styles, static stances etc... jeet kune do is more effective then most others as it gets rid of all the showmanship, and is more direct and powerful

i disagree, art forms such as tai chi etc are based on soft style.....where as ones like preying mantis etc are more a hard style of martial arts...... you can get someone who has attitude is not passive bla bla, but they would not be able to use the soft art correctly.

wrong. kung fu is able to generate massive amounts of power. and it can be used for street fights. if you know bruce lee, you would know that he was a badass back his hong kong youth days. he would frequently be involved in gang fights and whooped ***.

That's the one where the punching style is fast and consecutive like machine gun fire?

jeet kune do - the way of the intercepting fist... its bruce lee's version of martial arts that he created. bruce lees philosophy was that to do martial arts, is to fully express oneself, and he noted that martial arts its normal form was too formal, so he wanted it to be more fluidic and adaptable, hence his qoutes about being like water

the one you are thinking of would be wing chun.

difference being, bruce lee was a master... not a normal person who does martial arts....

gung fu is said to be able to produce massive amounts of power, in a lot of styles there is not so much power, however it can come down to the practitioner also...... but really, whats the use of power if you cannot adapt? if your held to a formal way of fighting that cannot change? you express a philosophy, not yourself.
