Pakistan ‘covertly backing terrorism across border’, says Antony

NEW DELHI: Indian Defence Minister AK Antony on Tuesday alleged that Pakistan was continuing to provide covert support to the perpetrators of cross-border terrorism, and hoped for a “more meaningful engagement with the newly elected government in Islamabad”.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a five-day army commanders’ bi-annual conference, he hoped that Islamabad would take steps to “effectively” curb cross-border terrorism, adding that on its part Indian forces would have to be vigilant on all fronts, PTI reported. The conference focuses on terrorism, especially the recent attempts to rake up an upsurge in Jammu and Kashmir.

Regarding China, the minister said there was “no room for complacency” on the Sino-Indian Border, adding that India would abide by the bilateral confidence-building measures with China.

“We have to constantly upgrade our military and economic capabilities,” he said. Commenting on Nepal, Antony said the “winds of political change” were sweeping the Himalayan country. Describing the changes taking place in Nepal as a “defining moment” for the country, he said India was committed to helping Kathmandu to ensure an orderly and constitutional transition to multi-party democracy.

Well we are accusing India of supporting the terrorism in Baluchistan and FATA, but at the same time "wishing for a more meaningful engagement" with them. ;)

Yup same holds true vice versa .

But it always give me a smile ahhhhhhhh Pakistan, ISI-Phobic India

Phobia?? naaahhh, no one here cares about Pakistan in the first place to be affected by phobia. Yup we blame the bombings on ISI because we believe it was aided and abetted by ISI, we dont blame bombings or acts of terror by naxals on ISI do we.

By meaningful dialouge India only means that Kashmiris should be let killed by the Indian brutal army while when we say meanful engagment it means we want things settle according to the wishes of innocent Kashmiris whatever they want.

Moreover by meaningful enegagment India only means to talk about free trade and giving her access to Afghanistan through land route.

The Indians are not willing to resolve core issues rather getting more benefits in terms of trade.

So dont try to be very smart.:)

Hmm good one, we are technically not hostile or is there any animosity technically between us and SL, BD, Myanmar and Nepal. It is naive to expect countries sharing border to be peaceniks , every country has little problems with its neighbours, heck US has immigration problem with Mexico, Canadians hate US for their trade policy etc. Only in lalaland and in europe you can find the ideal neighbours.

Agreed Pakistan has lots of friendly neighbours who would give an arm and leg for it. Iran with key interest in Balochistan, Afghanistan which is happy to export suicide bombers to your country and India .. well no comments.

Cheers
