Fifteen girls wounded in Mardan attack

PESHAWAR: Gunmen on motorbikes wounded 15 girls when they opened fire with pistols and lobbed grenades at a college party in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, police said.

Some of the victims were in a critical condition after the attack on the state-run girls-only institution in the town of Mardan, 40 kilometres northeast of Peshawar.

All the girls were aged 18 to 20, police said.

“Gunmen hurled two grenades and then opened fire with pistols. Fifteen girl students have been injured, some of them were in critical condition,” Khalid Nasim, a senior police officer in the town, told AFP.

An intelligence official in Peshawar said the attackers fled the scene afterwards.

There was no claim for the attack, but militants opposed to co-education and advocating extremist interpretations of religion have destroyed hundreds of schools, mostly for girls, in northwest Pakistan in recent years.

We have the same problem, during the time of taliban in Afghanistan, female education was a crime, all girls' schools were banned and women couldnt go to uni. Now they cant close the schools in Afghanistan, but they cowardly attack the girls with acid and poison water in schools.

All universities were destroyed by northern alliance ruling Afghanistan presently.
As a solution Talibans promoted women to go to Pakistan for studies.
Even the wife of Hamid Karzai is graduated from Pakistan.
Taliban never attacked any school with bombs and guns.
All this started after fall of Taliban and is brand new phenomena and is brain child of RAW.

Are you the same person who claimed that india genetically engineered Afghan kids and used them agains afg or pak, something like that....... if you are the same person then i wont be surprised by your above statement.

You people are ready to jump NA, but you forget the other side of the conflict which was Gulbodin, Gulbudin supported by pakistan and his crimes were the worst of all with loothing in large scale and firing rockets on residential areas of the country and killing hundreds of people in each go. you talk about the so called NA's wrong doings but lip tight about your own buddies. Secondly, the female education was not banned in entire afghanistan during the mujahideen rule, the unis were not destroyed as you claim, before the taliban came to kabul and other parts, female were free to go to uni and school. once they took over, they banned all sort of education for women, and in kabul and herat people had to set up underground school for their kids, if the taliban knew about it they would have got the severest punishment.

That woman's words are off topic, if we ever consider her words as the basis to judge the taliban, we need to see first hand what they have done to the people of afghansitan. why should we care about ONE foreign lady while the taliban are killing us in large numbers and as a matter of fact they enjoy that killing-they have themselves confessed to that.

I am not twisting nobody's word, and why should i be surprised that you called me indian.

Now on topic: They banned female educatyion just like their brother the TTP.
