Now your statement I agree, but their are a few things which I would like to give my personal opinion. With all due respect the Pustoonitan theory or ideology, which calls for the common home land for all Puntons was around before Zia. Now I dont have any book in front of me to back me up, but I think it has been around since the time when the British drew up the Dugraud Line. Now this line basically divided up the Puston people. The British basically drew a line on the map without any consideration for the area of the tribes and people of the area, I dont even think they conducted a survey of the area and if they did, them they are the most dumbest group of people on earth. Now when the Dugrad Line was drawn no one cared for it at the time but the British never had any administrative control of the area and when they did try to establish control they used force and were replied. Now this Pustoonistan movement gained strength when India was on the verge of being Partitioned. At the time of the Partition Dr.Khan and his Red Shirts were in power in the NWFP, backed by Congress. When Congress realized that Pakistan was to be born they spread this propaganda about a common homeland for the Puston people Pustoonitan. Fortunately their efforts were useless and the NWFP along with FATA joined Pakistan. But nonetheless over the years India set up a RAW base in Afghanistan who had the sole duty of spreading the Pushtoonistan propaganda.
Now we get to your father. Your father in my opinion is trying to say that President Zia is responsible for the troubles Pakistan is facing today. In my opinion your father is making this judgment in 2007, and you have to understand the times have changed. Now let me make it clear I am not criticizing your dad, and if you think I am I apologize this is not my goal. Anyway at that time the only reason Pakistan helped the Afghans was because it need to get revenge on Russia, because it partly blamed Russia for its defeat in East Pakistan, and I think any Pakistani at that time would of done the same thing he did. Now what Zia forgot was that Afghanistan was always a critic of Pakistan, to the extend that when Pakistan was created it was the only nation who was not in favor of Pakistan joining the U.N. What I would of done is fight a war with Russia, but not allow any Afghan to set foot on our territory. Now why this wasn't done we could only sit and guess today and we dont even know if this would be possible. Now here we are in 2008 and trying to guess what went wrong and I dont have the answer to this, but we have to keep in mind the situation was different, the time was different and many other things were different. Now what isn't different even in 2008 is the hate Afghans have for Pakistan. And with this hate they have once again tried to revive the Pushtoonistan movement for the sole purpose of seeing Pakistan disintegrate. We will not let them succeed. we will get through this difficult time as one and we have gotten by the most difficult of circumstances before and we surely will again. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!

yeah you are absolutely right I said it wrong this pushtoonistan has always been there but seperatism was never as bad as it is now you hear pushtoon leaders commonly talk of waging holy war against pakistan.I mean a couple of years ago you could never imagine taking down our flags and putting up their own flags in our own provinces we built a fence on our soil and the afghan army tore it down !!! this should be a major warning to us as to how big a threat it is to our sovereignty !
We need to be like israel in some respects and start eliminating even the smallest threats we need to teach them a lesson and having an iron fist is the only way to show them we mean business.

With all due respect I hope we dont do anything Israel does. We dont want to kill innocent people. But I do agree that these element must be dealt with an iron fist and should be made examples to future such elements. Is the integrity of Pakistan must be kept through war then by god it will. Such element should be wiped out. Now if anyone of our citizens feel that they are being unfairly treated then they should fight with the government, but this fight should be political and should emphasize the unity of Pakistan. This fight must be fought through the ballot boxes and not through violence.

Incredible - So Egyptians and Jordanians ...? And the Sodies who offered to recognize Israel in their Beirut offer? Maybe these Arab and Muslim people are not averse to killing innocent people?

You suggest grievances should to be handled at the ballot box, this is something that Israelis do - in which Arab or Muslim country do they handle grievances at the ballot box?

Persons who take up arms against the government, are persons who are breaking the law, and should be introduced to justice by a determined and responsible government. Pakistan would not have had any problem with insurrectionists and secessionists, or sub-nationalists, if it had dealt with these law breakers in determined manner to uphold the laws that are the foundation of the unity and national security of the State and nation.

When I said I hope we dont become like Israel I was suggesting that I hope the Government of Pakistan never illegally occupies a territory and on top of that kill the inhabitants of that territory which is what Israel does. Now what type of government Israel, Jordan or any other country has is not my business or my problem, it is a issue of the citizens of those countries.
Now I am a firm beliver that if the givernment is treating its people unfairly, then those people have the right to revolt, and by revolt I mean hold protests and get their revenge at the ballot box. Now in some countries such as India the ballot box is a means to surpress a group of people, in that case protest make your voice heard.
You also talk about dealing with anti-state elements with a firm hand. I totally agree with you, these people must be crushed at all costs, but not at the cost of the unity of the sate, a case we had in East Pakistan, which I dont want to talk about. No country on earth would ever allow its authority to be challenged, and if that authority is challenged the rebels must be dealt with a firm hand.
