Indus Dolphin andhi hoti ha :p:....This is the first time I have heard them using the term seals, previously it was SSGN
I think it's something different
 
The insignia on the Patch is different.
 
That too it looks like they are few selected from SSGN and did further training.
I think they're trying to broaden the scope of the Navy. Its no secret that our Navy doesn't get much attention.

The Army has the Commandos and the SSG.

I think 'Seals' will be an equivalent of the Army Commandos and the SSGN will have the same role as the SSG.

As far as the Marines are concerned - it may well become a different branch, which in my opinion should be. It outta stay under the Navy, but its role should be more specific.

Bottom line - they're all there just to kick ***.

Without naval dominance in the Arabian Sea/Indian ocean that wouldn't make much sense.
 
It's just a specialised course done by SSGN.
Well even those who have done this course in video they are not that small of a Group which suggests SSGN itself has grown in size.
