India did not endorse China's controversial Belt and Road Initiative at the just concluded Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Foreign Ministers' meeting while the rest of the eight-member bloc backed the pet project of President Xi Jinping.

"The foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan reiterated their support for the 'Belt and Road Initiative' proposed by China," said a joint statement issued by SCO Foreign Ministers at the end of their one-day meeting in Beijing today.

India's name was conspicuously missing from the list of countries which endorsed the BRI in which China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a part.

"The parties support the use of the potential of countries, international organisations and multilateral institutions in the region to establish a broad, open and mutually beneficial partnership in the SCO region," the statement said.

India and Pakistan were admitted into the organisation in which China and Russia are influential members.

The meeting was convened to approve the agenda for the SCO summit to be held in Chinese city of Qingdao in June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the Summit.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj attended the SCO Foreign Ministers' meeting today. Indian officials have not reacted to the joint statement which was released in Chinese and Russian languages.

India has been vocal in expressing its opposition to CPEC which traverses through the Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir). -- PTI

India, the only conspicuous iconoclast among all nations.
If India thinks it is treated as a black sheep by SCO, why not leave it?

Rocking the SCO boat?
Why joined?

India, you can not have your cake and eat it too.

there is enough roads in india.....
even we require more , we can build at our own...

You're right.
Please exit the organization immediately

the basic of this organisation was to cooperate on terrorisium and cross boarder drug trafficking.....
the day it became a militery allience against nato....india will surely exit...

Good job. Sends a msg.

road are basic stratigic connectivity assest of any country...
there is no point giving its rights to china to hold control...

china want a road to connect bangladesh going right through assam ( spilting easten states from rest of india)...and under BRI its they who will build it and collect toll ...in other sence control it....
so in any situation like the dokhlam ...we know better....

India will not be in SCO for long. As other nations in that organization can tell that India is not in SCO to support organization. But to sabotage it. India is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Whether India joins BRI or not , no one really cares, It is actually better for Pakistan if India is out.
China does. They offered to change the name of CPEC too to bring us in.

lolz ground set for moti & xi's meeting .

i was thinking the same . india always oppose projects of sco rather being supportive .

They will soon realize that they don’t fit. So if they have any shame, they will withdraw before getting expelled.

Who in Pakistan gives a fkk about the name? Are you r3t@d or something?

You can name it China Middle East Belt or China Arabia Economic Corridor.

The only retards here are pakistanis that say who the f cares about India joining CPEC/BRI while forgetting that Chinese themselves want us to join there pet projects. You people act more chinese than chinese themselves.
