You are making a logical error.

I never said a high average IQ was sufficient for industrialization.

I'm suggesting high aveage IQ is a pre-requisite for industrialization.

Having a high average IQ and a BAD POLITICAL SYSTEM (like China in the past) can hinder industrialization.

Having a low average IQ and all other pre-requisites (such as a stable political system and functioning economy) can still lead to non-industrialization.

Unless you have any evidence showing that people in countries like South Korea, Taiwan and China had a high IQ prior to industrialization, you're making a baseless argument.

Human beings are composed of hardware (DNA and IQ genes) and software (analytical skills due to education).

Scientists say IQ is 50% nature and 50% nurture due to studies of identical twins.

In 1949 (at Taiwan's founding), Taiwan was not an industrialized country. Forty years later, Taiwan was clearly an industrialized country.

In 1978, China was not an industrialized country. Forty years later, mainland China is clearly an industrialized country.

The question is: WHY?

Why did industrialization occur within 40 years in both Taiwan and mainland China?

I think there are two parts to the answer.

Firstly, Han Chinese have an in-built high IQ. This is the hardware part. However, the Chinese IQ could not manifest itself due to foreign countries waging constant wars against China. The Chinese government was busy spending money to defend itself against foreign invasion and could not allocate funds for technology research and development.

Secondly, forty years of peace have proven to be sufficient for Han Chinese industrialization. This is the software part. Software needs 40 years to take hold. It happened in both Taiwan (Acer, Asus, TSMC, Mediatek, etc.) and mainland China (e.g. Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, Haier, DJI, SANY, etc.).

Most undeveloped countries in the world had at least 40 years of peace (and usually much longer), but we have not seen industrialization.

We want to know WHY?

The average country IQ data suggests that a country's industrialization hinges on a HIGH average country IQ.

The HIGH AVERAGE COUNTRY IQ theory explains the real-world observation that Taiwan and China industrialized in the last 40 years, but almost all other countries (Brazil, Argentina, Iran, Nigeria, etc.) did not.
----------

Let's analyze how average IQ affects a country's industrialization.

Taiwan has an average IQ of 104. Let's assume a genius has an IQ 25 points higher than the average person. This means Taiwanese geniuses have an average IQ of 129.

An undeveloped country has an average IQ of 80. Let's add 25 points for an undeveloped country's genius. This will take him/her to an IQ of 105. This means an undeveloped country's genius is equivalent to an average citizen in Taiwan.

The undeveloped country cannot attain an IQ of 129. Thus, the barrier for industrialization looks almost insurmountable for an undeveloped country.

Taiwan province and HK SAR of CHINA .
Thanks for your time!
It is understood that Taiwan and HK are provinces of China. This thread is not a political discussion. It's a discussion about technology and average country IQ.

Thanks God, and big thanks to the OP, I know now, Vietnam has a bright future. Moreover following this scientific research paper of Anatoly Karlin, we are even smarter than Chinese :yahoo:

IQ of 130 is common for engineers, not geniuses.
A lot of IQ 130 is helpful for industrialization of a nation.

Yet but you have no nukes and we have them!
Quite smart,to not have nukes!

Hard work and good system is more important than so called IQ,US are not the most smart yet.they still number 1 for the past100 years and for the moment as well as the next 15 to years before CHINA takes over !
COMPANies like Microsoft and Apple are the keys, if CHINA can have 1000 Microsoft type companies, CHINA would be developped country!

no worry, Vietnam nuclear program is as peaceful as of China.

I would like to tell you that if Vietnam attempts to possess nuclear weapons, China will implement a pre-emptive military strike against Vietnam, including bombing HA NOI and Ho Chi Minh City and all major military and economic zones with nuclear bombs!:welcome::china:
If you have the will as north korea go for it!
Better convince firstlyyour new dad US!

In fact, it is US/Russia/China as the de facto nuclear power, since UK doesn't have its own SLBM, while France is struggling to solve the its reliability problem, hence UK and France are nullified from this category.

No it doesn't. Since the failure of 2013,two more missiles were launched with success. France is probably the country that experienced the least of SLBM test fails with only 2 since 1966. (The other one in 1981)

Why do I never hear you talking about Trident missile fails ? (Recently with the Royal Navy) Why do I never hear you talking about the Bulava missile reliability.... missile which failed countless times ?

Why do I never hear you about how much China struggled with its JL-2 ? (Let alone the others)

The JL-2 is a variant of the DF-31 deployed on the Type 094 SSBN, and was originally expected to achieve IOC in 2010. The DoD reports that the JL-2 has suffered a series of flight test failures, and as such the weapon is unlikely to reach operational status in 2010.

high iq is one thing but it still requires western tech like machine tools to be imported but west has monopoly and will sanction it or downgrade it. china might sell everything but not it national pride project or tech.
you will get the tech once you accept debt bank loan. soviet union got subsided by west and china economy is tied into west although they are moving towards petro yuan.

Nope, China is moving toward the JL-3 which is far ahead of the M51.

BTW, even the currently deployed JL-2A is much more advanced than the M51, but China keeps everything in low profile.

Just like our railgun, we are the first nation testing a real railgun aboard, while you can only dream about a mockup.

Your claim is completely wrong.

According to Gardner Research, China is the world's largest producer and consumer of machine tools.
