What's new

Xi’s got China’s rich worrying about wealth. Now they’re scrambling for visas

Every rich person I know in China are trying to get out. A few years ago, they were very hopeful of China's future, but Xi fucked it all up.

Xi is even more Maoist than Deng. The rich will prefer someone who let them leech on the people than Xi.

You shud just read what your fellow Chinese have written openly above. Q E D
Do you do that about India?

To be fair, every person tried to get out of China 20 years ago, but it didn't stop China from fast catching up in the past two decades, the least I worry is rich people leaving, the Chinese living abroad always contribute enormously to China's development from day one, Chinese are not like Indians, this is why US is so worried about their Chinese population.

Do you do that about India?

India has a big problem. In China, the government owns most land in Shanghai -- due to confication after 1949. In India, I am not surprise if entire Mumbai is own by white man. The Indian government has never confiscate white man asset.

White man are feeding on Indians whether or not if there is wealth flight. Indians is still semi-colonized economically.

When the real estate price increases, people are complaining the price is high.

It means China is bad.

When the real estate price decreases, people are complaining their wealth is falling.

It means China is bad too.

When rich people move their wealth out to other countries, other countries are complaining they increase the local real estate price.

It also means China is bad.

Good China is dead China.

When China is dead, they are complaining Chinese is a people of garbage.

It means Chinese is bad, not just China.

To be fair, every person tried to get out of China 20 years ago,

Not just 20.

That's a good link. Indian immigration to US is skyrocketing. No wonder Indians create more unicorns in US than within India. We need to stop this trend. Though as a percentage of population, this number seems fine. Mexico, Phillipines has a much higher ratio than us.

I suspect now the Chinese immigration will get lower simply because of the US-China tension and US specially targeting Chinese community.

Many lived in US for many years already, they are not recent immigrants. Naturalization has more to do with US policies than number of immigrants.

They don't have a gun to their head forcing them to be naturalized. Your excuse is weak.

I didn't say anyone forced them, US used to be a dream land to go and over the decades many people went there and lived illegally, I lived there and I always know that, but in recent years US becomes less and less appealing to the Chinese is a hard fact and it's becoming more and more clear shown by updated data from both countries.

These people can read the news just as easily as the "recent arrivals" and can get back on a plane just as fast. They are still Chinese citizens...just over here longer than the recents.

They lived in US for so long and lost touch with everything in China, but yes, some did come back.

haha..more likely they prefer this lifestyle better than China. My Chinese neighbor has a house with a tennis court...I'm sure he isn't rushing back.

Maybe, but not every Chinese has a tennis court in US, US is becoming less and less appealing to average Chinese if a known fact, however you try to deny it, I m Chinese, you are not.

And besides tennis court, this is also an American life style

All I know is an absolute flood of Chinese started coming over and their current numbers are highly noticeable compared to just 25 years ago.

😲

Even if they stopped coming over tomorrow an extra 2 million people are hard to not see in the streets. I'm sure if they allowed 50 million to immigrate they'd have no shortage of takers from China.

Even during the 1845 Irish famine less than 1 million people came over.

So until those 2 million jump back on a plane to return to that shining beacon of "appealingness" I don't think your argument is very valid.

It seems lots of Chinese people found it very very very easy to pack up their bags and run away from China but not many people find it easy to run back...no matter what the perception is of homelessness or whatever they see.

I'm thinking things must really be a breaking point if someone decides to leave a country forever. Apparently this what 2 million Chinese people saw. The don't seem to see that in the US.
