What's new

Who is Subhas Chandra Bose to people today?

So any Muslim leader who did not fight for independent Pakistan is not to be respected as per you, right?
Independent Pakistan movement started in 40s. So any leader who died prior to that, you wont respect them, right?
Any Muslim, non Muslim, alien opposed to partition won't be respected in Pakistan if we know him in the first place

When partition movement not even start prior to 40s, how do you judge the leaders who fought and died for independence before ?
Even Jinnah was a leader for Hindu-Muslim unity in his earlier days. Had he died for whatever reasons then, you would not have respected him, right?

He fought British with an army of 60,000, which took ennormous casualties.

He was against Ghandi's policy of appeasing British.

He once offered Jinnah a post of a Prime Minister, were he to win.

The battle for Burma was one of the most bloody, and big battles of WW2 (Burma offensive was bigger than the D day,) yet subsequently erased from history, along with INA, and Bose himself by Indian establishment

What do people in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh think of the man today?
India deeply respects Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Independent India even adopted the INA slogan 'Jai Hind'.

Our national animal is Bengal Tiger. And he was the original tiger of India.

There is no point arguing with people who don't know the freedom struggle. They have learned in parts and have left huge parts of history.
It doesn't matter any way . As more than a billion people in the subcontinent respect and love him ,that's all matters and not few minority who have no knowledge of history.

There are some folks who despite knowing are prejudiced and narrow in their thinking.

Muslim league and Thier message started much before 1940
Iqbal is considered a founding father in Pakistan and he died in 1938 so you can guess some sort of activity was going on even before 40s

Bhagat Singh was fighting for United India that is counter to Pakistan struggle and he was no fan of Muslim league
again this is against ideals modern day pakistan

That's why any leader asking for United India is not respected, we don't even respect Mullahs asking for United India so this Muslim, non- Muslim stuff doesn't even come here

Prior to 1940s or may 1935, Muslim league was just a party working for rights of Muslims. Partition was not in its agenda then.
Leaders like Bhagat Singh, Bose etc were secular leaders who had many muslim followers and worked for all Indians irrespective of religion.
Its fine, you can continue thinking the way you think. Some leaders are too great to be belittled by few folks thinking otherwise. Its like Gandhi not getting Noble Peace Prize diminishes the stature of Nobel Prize and not Gandhi.

The British Government passed the Government of India Act in 1935. Just before elections 1937, Jinnah approached Congress for power sharing which congress rejected and in the elections congress won with majority and that is when Muslim league realised they can never come to power and started demand for separate country in 1940. Some power hungry guys mixed religion to politics.

Note:- Muslim league was against non-cooperation movement against british and were supporting British during 2nd world War.

Just a curious question. Did any prominent Muslim League leader go to jail or died due to opposition to British rule?
