Islamabad, Jun.14 (ANI): The United States has put up stiff conditions on the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan, stipulating that they cannot be used against India in any future conflict.

Pakistan is slated to receive 18 F-16s from the US by the end of this month.

According to sources, the stipulations were laid down following New Delhi raising strong objections over Washington's massive military support to Islamabad, during the recent strategic dialogue between the two nations.

During the strategic deliberations, the Obama administration assured India that it was taking steps to ensure that the military assistance being offered to Pakistan was not misutilised.

US Air Force engineers would accompany the F-16s and would supervise not only the airbase but also the operations to be carried out by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, The Nation reports.

The F-16s would land at Shahbaz Airbase in Jacoabad, which has been upgraded to make it conducive for operations of the advanced combat jets at a cost of over 500 million dollars.

During a recent meeting of the US House International Relations Committee, Assistant Secretary of State John Hillen came under fire for the sale of F-16s to Pakistan. Hillen, however, detailed plans for ‘safeguarding’ defence technology to Pakistan by which the US will strictly enforce the following: a. Site surveys and end-use monitoring. b. Annual inspections/inventories of all F-16-related equipment. c. Facilities specific for F-16s storage of spare parts and maintenance. d. Enforcement of strict limitations on access to the planes. e. Complete segregation of F-16s from third country-origin aircraft (i.e. China) f. Express permission from the US before the PAF can fly the planes outside its own airspace. g. Full compliance with the security plan before the planes, weapons and equipment can be delivered.

Can anything further be said regarding the ‘sovereignty’ (or utter lack thereof) of this unfortunate nation? Sixty-two years of poor relations with the US, despite our complete capitulation to their every whim, have taught our leadership nothing. They trade national sovereignty for cheap junkets and kick-backs. It’s high time we took our business elsewhere. China makes an amazing array of fighter aircraft. We must get out of the US clutches as soon as possible in order to salvage our sovereignty and national interest.

Buddy...did you read the first line....I was not sure if Pakistani Newspaper will publish such a news...so I asked someone to validate.....any problem. :hitwall:

In case of war against india, Uncle Sam will not send its men to Pakistan to see what weapons the Pakistan military are using against india. This report is just to stop indians from crying. Pakistan will use whatever weapons it pleases, Pakistan purchased these weapons so Pakistan are now the owners of these F-16s, not Uncle Sam...these F-16s are not gifts, Pakistan bought them and Pakistan didnt buy them to be placed behind a locked door collecting dust.

may be someone needs to validate the news whether it is really da case or not.

Corrections mate.

Pak didn't buy these weapons. These were part of aid to Pakistan. And for everything there is a license agreement that you have to sign. The license has the terms that Pak must obey. If it violates US will have full right to take away these weapons or destroy or disable them if required.

Even if you buy things, there's an agreement to it. You don't own things when you buy them, you just buy the right to use them. The terms and conditions are still valid after the purchase.

ISLAMABAD – After delivery of 18 already paid F-16 aircrafts in middle of June this year, Pakistan would get another batch of 14 of 5th generation warplanes free of cost as a gift from the United States of America.
Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman told this to journalists while answering questions after a detailed briefing about ongoing Pakistan Air Force exercises called as High Mark 2010.
According to the Air Chief, the 18 aircrafts would come to Pakistan in batches of four or so, while earlier bought F-16 are being upgraded in Turkey by US.
Answering questions about future wars, and notion of cold start aired by Indian army chief recently, he said, “Future wars would be swift and intense. These changing threat perceptions and new notions have forced the PAF to transform from traditional enemy-specific force. Now we are fully capable of responding both internal as well as external threats.”
“These exercises are meant for maintaining peace and enhancing preparedness of the force and would continue till May 10,” he said and added, “PAF has no aggressive designs against any nation or country and sole purpose of these exercises is to ensure country’s defence and sovereignty.”
Earlier, it was informed during the briefing that soon after ‘High Mark 2010’, the PAF F-16 jets would be flying over Atlantic Ocean to participate in joint exercises named ‘Red and Green Flag’ with US air force.
To a question about the threat of surgical strikes by India, he made it clear that in case of such adventurism the PAF had capability to give befitting response within hours, if not, minutes.

Answering another question, he said, “The country faces no threat from the Western border but as in the past we have threat from Eastern borders.”
He said that PAF had never asked the US for drone technology and the PAF was manufacturing its own UAV (Unarmed Arial Vehicles) technology. “But there are few countries including America that are making armed drones,” he said.
He was of the view that the PAF did not need to buy drones that bears an extra-ordinary cost. “Only if we get sensors to be installed on our own UAVs, we already have the capability to hit precision targets otherwise,” he added. He also revealed that the PAF had already been hitting targets in the war zone areas receiving intelligence information from the GHQ. “We neither receive nor give any information to the US or any other ally in war against terrorism,” he added.
The Air Chief said new threats have forced a close coordination and cooperation amongst all forces including the Air Force, Navy, and Army. He said the PAF provided key support to the Pakistan Army that enabled it to succeed in war against militancy. According to the Air Chief, the PAF also used its own drones in the war against militancy in Waziristan and the tribal areas.

As I said before, these F-16s will not be behind a locked door collecting dust. In case of war, if necessary all weapons will be used to defend our Pak Sarzameen. No one can stop Pakistan in the middle of a war.

These 18 f-16's along with AMRAAM's are paid for by Pakistan's Taxpayers money (It was originally 36 order but Musharraf reduced it to 18 after earthquake because a lot of money spent there).Besides all the yank's will do is impose sanction on Pakistan when war starts and hope the spare of f-16's run out quickly.Nothing else they will do.In fact if anything Uncle Sam wants us to have a level of military that we don't go nuclear hence it always from time to time comes to Pakistan's help but i hope Indian Air Force think that Pakistan wont use them.In any war against India all bets are off.Do you think we will care what Uncle Sam think or what if he sanction us etc? We'll be sanctioned the day war starts.(regardless of the type of weapon we use). We've done it in 65 and other wars too.

I understand. Happens in India too. ;)

The price for the 18 F-16s being bought hasn't been disclosed. It is not free but being bought from the money they got as military aid from the US.

Why dont you put your money where your mouth is and prove it to us that we got them as aid package. After all you are the one rebuffing the link by calling it non credible, and saying otherwise.
