Yes, I have. Most of the time I speak with them in English or Sinhalese.
It is better if I could understand Tamil at least to know what they are talking in Tamil.

When I was at the school, it was compulsory from Grade 6 to 9, almost 10 years ago.

It is better if I could understand Tamil at least to know what they are talking in Tamil.

Website/books learnings are useless...It won't help you...keep watching Tamil movies (preferably new ones)with English or your Sinhalese subtitles...I have learned hindi by watching movies..its not a big deal..Moreover Tamil is the easiest dravidan language to learn without much effort.

I too know Hindi has no use in Sri Lanka except you watch Indian movies or make pilgrimage to India.
