I find it’s smell and internal texture mindnumbing.

They belong to the same family as Rambutan etc. Part of what being native Asian ('South' or otherwise) is all about.

The smell and texture of both Jackfruit and Rambutan were supposed to attract carnivores for seed propagation, hence the odd meaty texture and putrid spoiled-meat eau-de-dead-animal smell......

Dada it is very common to present at least half a dozen items (more like 8-10 entrées) in front of a guest in Bangladesh for dinner.

It is more of a "Bangal" thing rather than "Ghoti" thing.

I have seen Kolkata Bangals behave the same way, some are my friends.

"Atishojjo" is a relative term, as state of mind, if you will....

Saving face in front of guests is preferable rather than "ek jhuri ninday".

In time we suffer and forget some things. But never lose hope.....one day better days will return. Temporary impediments.

The fact that you have "shonkoch" (shame) about serving the best for guests is an honored feeling and sentiment.

It is not that guests expect it, it is rather you do that is heartening.

P K Halder could be tried and punished in India too: Momen​

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has said that as a case against P K Halder who was arrested in India, is ongoing, he may face trial and punishment in India. If he is later returned to Bangladesh, he will be tried and punished here as well.

He told this to the reporters while speaking at a programme on Monday (May 16) afternoon.

Dr Momen said, “India has yet not informed Bangladesh over P K Halder officially. He will be brought back to the country per the existing rules of both countries. India can inform the matter to the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

He further said, “P K Halder will definitely come under punishment. If India deports him after trial, the punishment may be executed here too.”
