What's new

Pakistan's Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy gets an Oscar!

Now this is a contradiction of sorts ; Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has done documentaries showing the dark side of Pakistan including "Children of the Taliban" and "Pakistan's Double Game" and has received such brickbats and spite from the establishment including labeling her as a "liberal fascist", now the same people will come rushing in hordes to shower accolades on her. But she has stood steadfast and gone on about her job.

i would agree with you on this

Its better that people show these problems so that could be addressed and solved. Its better to be realistic and simple (Iranian film industry is a good example of that and they have pretty good movies) then over the top, delusional, and unrealistic.

in order to solve problems we dont necessarily dont need to make movies and show it off to the world, i mean we already have far worse image, we cant solve problems by insulting ourselves in the world and that hey, our women are raped in our country, i mean every country have some sorts of problem, like rapes are more in USA than any other country but they dont make movies to expose their problem in the world

we have to work on the grass roots level to solve our problem, like educating the masses

so you are actually giving a very failed logic

she should have shown the brighter sie of pakistan like pakistani hospitality in the orld and pakistani talent etc, but no she will always talk negative about pakistan

oscars prize and nobel prize all these are bonus money paid to traitors who serve the west in consideration for the services they have rendered.......imagine...bama received the zionist noble prize for peace...joke of the century.....they guy is committing war crimes every day and is the architect of drone attacks.....he voilates sovereignity of an sovereign country every day and kills womens and children...he receives the zionist nobel prize for peace....

he got the nobel prise for becoming the biggest zionist pawn in the world

Pakistani won because she depicted Pakistanis in negative light.

Wow Wow Wow.

I am speechless. What an outstanding speech by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. She was articulate, self-confident and presented an image of a smart intelligent young pakistani woman. Very impressive. Congratulations Pakistan.
