US President Barack Obama personally warned Turkish Prime Minster Recep Tayyip Erodgan that the US will not sell weapons to Turkey if it does not change its position towards Israel, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

The ultimatum is particularly important to Turkey, who was reportedly planning to buy American drone aircraft to attack Kurdish group PKK after the US pulls out of Iraq next year.

“The president has said to Erdogan that some of the actions that Turkey has taken have caused questions to be raised on the Hill [Congress] . . . about whether we can have confidence in Turkey as an ally," an administration source told The Financial Times. "That means that some of the requests Turkey has made of us, for example in providing some of the weaponry that it would like to fight the PKK, will be harder for us to move through Congress.”

“They need to show that they take seriously American national security interests,” the administration official reportedly added. He also said Washington was looking at Turkish conduct and would then assess if there were “sufficient efforts that we can go forward with their request”.

Obama has called on Ankara to tone down its rhetoric about the IDF raid on the Turkish blockade-breaking ship, Mavi Marmara. Washington also criticized Turkey recently for

This again shows that ZOG of US is ruled by Zionist Nazis and their Christian supporters who believe in Rapture, a Christian eschatology of some Protestant sects.

I guess they should do us all a favor and remove the fax from bullfax.com

No it is true credible news sources are reporting on it too.

Erdogan needs to back pedal at this moment and get his act together. The Israeli lobby is at work in the U.S. and that means Turkey has to change its course. We can not afford to lose any weapons sales we request from the U.S. as they are still our main supplier. If they cut all weapons sells we would be screwed and that includes a good bit of our indigenous tech.

I obviously don't agree with Israel on almost anything. But they have more influence then we do on the U.S. Therefore we must play a logical game here. We should reestablish relations with Israel but keep our distance. Keep Diplomatic ties at full though. The U.S. will then come around.

Turkish Opposition Rejects Regime Policy on Gaza Flotilla

...TwoTurkish legal experts, in separate articles, have criticized the Mavi Marmara jihad operation over the last few weeks, pointing out that Turkey has no jurisdiction over the issue, that the Gaza flotilla organizers acted wrongly, and Israel had the right to seize the ship.

You don't have to be part of the "Israeli lobby" to reject what Erdogan is doing. You only have to care about promoting peace, law, and justice to do so.

President Barack Obama personally warned Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan his country risks not getting some of the weapons it wants from the U.S. unless it improves relations with Israel, the Financial Times said, quoting an unidentified administration official.

You missed "quoting an unidentified administration official" in the story.

In Case of an Arms Embargo several important Programms like T-129, MESA AEW&C, CCIP Upgrade could face Delays or could be scrapped. TUrAF have a urgent need to replace it's F-4E/2020 and early F-16C/D Block until the mid of the next Decade, they could probably block a Sale of F-35 to Turkey and also EU Countries would think three Times before they include Turkey as 5th Partner in EF-2000 Programm by it's current middle East Police.

I don't agree with Israels Gaza Policy, but our national Interests(North Cyprus, Aegean and Caucasus) have far more Priority. In these Threat Envirement TurAF need to establish Air Dominance in Case of War and for a credible Detterent. Turkey can not alow to show one Hour of Weakness.

Turkey is also relying on NATO Cooperation to protect it's Interest in the Aegean and Cyprus. When Turkey could be kicke'd out of NATO because Erdogan Pan - Islamic Policy, Greece can do what it want in the Aegean and Cyprus Envirement !

In 1974 when Turkey invaded northern Cyprus, without being NATO Member or an ally of US Turkey were bombed to Stoneage by US !

Jigs,

What does this mean for Turkey's independent foreign policy in the future? Given that Turkey is a NATO member, this caution from US has probably thrown the benefit of the pact into doubt for some at least. Would Turkey look to alternate suppliers more aggressively?

Will this move by Obama lead to some readjustments or will this have to wait out until the current government is done with its term and then back to the old alignment with the US? Lastly, what is the implication of Erdogan and company getting elected for a second term on this development?
