Shahid Kapoor's 'Haider' faces protests, shooting on halt - The Times of India

Director Vishal Bhardwaj had to cut short the shooting of Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Haider' inside the Kashmir University at Hazratbal here following protests by students inside the campus.
The film crew, which has been shooting for 'Haider' in Kashmir for the past nearly two weeks, had to pack up after the students living in the on-campus hostels objected to hoisting of the national tri-colour atop a make shift bunker yesterday, official sources said.
They said police, deployed for security of the film crew, chased away the protesters but the shooting could not proceed further.
Two students were briefly detained by police but were released later following intervention by the university authorities.
Kashmir University Students' Union, which has been banned by the varsity authorities, in a statement condemned the use of force against the students for protesting against the film crew.
"Students also objected to Irrfan Khan, one of the actors, when he was spotted smoking inside the smoke free campus," the union said.
Bhardwaj is shooting for 'Haider', starring Shahid , Irrfan Khan and Shraddha Kapoor, since November 8. The movie is an adaption of Shakespearean tragedy Hamlet and is set in Kashmir valley.
The director, who has earlier made 'Kaminey' with Shahid, spent more than a week in rural Kashmir in September this year to get a feel of life in the area.

The indian flag is an insult to kashmiri's it should not be raised in kashmir, the feelings of the local people must be respected

and some one deletes the the last para from the article and adds his own para.... I know it wasn't delibrate :D

The last para is my comment idiot not part of the article, the indian flag is insulting to kashmiri's it shouldnt be raised in kashmir as the people hate it

These were average students in the heart of kashmir and look how they react to your nations flag, that tells you everything you need to know

Few would favor Indian Flag. If India knew miscreants were "few", it must had gone for plebiscite and brought an end to the Kashmir dispute.

And if you were so confident, the "freedom fighters" wouldn't need to drove out 4,00,000 Kashmiri pundits from valley.

I have said many times; trying to take Kashmir by force was biggest mistake Pak did, creating excuse for India to intervene which led to India getting 2/3 Kashmir.

This mistake will haunt Pak for decades.

Total population of Kashmir, 7.3 million. How many drove out of Kashmir? 0.4 Million and we all know this figure is despite overly exaggerated. Its laughable to see your argument that Kashmirs had to drove out 0.4 million because they were afraid of being a minority. :) Simplistic my friend.

If miscreants were in thousands, India must not had felt pinching need to escalate military in the valley to 0.6 million which is close to half of its military strength.

another myth

We have standing army of 1.3 million; if we deploy so much force for Kashmir, what will be left for rest border?

The need to drove out them itself says so much.

Kashmiris were fighting against military. If Pundits were supporting Indian Military then Kashmiris shoved them off for a reason, but, it is all claim of India and not verified by any foreign body and you know why? Because Kashmir is inaccessible to International Media since well over two decades and special information curbing laws were enforced in the Valley which were only applied in Jammu and Kashmir. I see "a few" miscreants gave India an unimaginable pain, if they were actually a "a few".

Just got back from Kashmir. Superlative place. Kashmiris want the HC to pack up and go to PakistanOK. They want better life for their kids and had the choicest of words for the HC.

Inaccessible to who? There were more foreigners in Kashmir than Indians. The 'few' miscreants have been sent back to where they came from. The force deployment that I saw on the streets was mainly the J&K police.

Pakistan should first hold a plebiscite in it's own country specially NW and Baluchistan. Also Pakistan should remove the phrase where they force Po K residents to sign a deal and not a democracy.

Pakistan should do plebiscite in NW and Baluchistan because? Plebiscite in Kashmir is agreed by India and Pakistan together. And what is NW? NWFP? Your level of Understanding on Pakistan is evident from "NW" which has been changed to KPK since years.

guyz itz 2013 now they will still dreaming for "Azad Kashmir" in 2113 hope they will survive till then:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ya as if you are made of stone who is sure to be alive in 2113. :D Besides Azad Kashmir Exists even today (Azad Kashmir - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), we only long for its extension. You guys have such a poor knowledge.

Inaccessible for human-rights watch, international media and people who could potentially expose Indian stories on Kashmir.

But what am I talking about, there are areas in India where Indian Army cannot get in and they pay private contractors to bring in their food and supplies inside garrisons.

Did anyone raise demand for plebiscite within Pak borders ... Height of idiocy of Indians
