What's new

Jf17 and Mig 35 remain the only options being evaluated for increasing interest: Argentine air force

Do Mig-35 has anti-ship capabilities? JF-17 blk 2 are capable of carry out anti-ship missile.

If Mig-35 do not have such capabilities. A 80% chance, JF-17 will surely bag the deal. Falkland is always part of Argentina military planning.
The mig 35 can carry the kh35ad.

But the jf 17 can carry the CM 400akg which offers a significant range advantage than the kh35a and also better speed.

I known Russian are well know to over advertised their aircraft for future program. I do seen Mig-29K carry kh-35 missiles but never see a Mig-35 loaded with it. Mig-35 seems to be more oriental for air to air and air to ground missile. Anti-ship capabilities seems to be lacking.

They are apparently in negotiations with CASIC for 12 Jf17 blk3
Why would Britain station f35 in the Falklands? And how many euro fighters are stationed there. Not on a war footing is it

uk has 4 euro fighters stationed on occupied falklands island. and my f35 bit, I was trying to say was they will be sent in case of war. crucial now for Argentina to get its right fighter. And I stand by calling Russian bird a junk

War is not imminent hence only 4 eurofighters

I have been following the R-77 news closely. First, what we saw on 27-feb was their R-77 (RVV-AE) not R-77-1 (RVV_SD).

R-77-1 is 110 cm longer than the R-77 and comes with a quoted range of 110 km (a match from AMRAAM c-5):

Pre Balakot, R-77 was claimed to have a range of 100 km, that was revised to 80 km post Balakot. The range difference arises from the standard test conditions between US and Russia (I think US is at something like 20k feet and Russia's at 40k feet).

India has already ordered the R-77-1 back in 2019 and should be getting operational with them as we speak. The R-77-1 is a more immediate threat to PAF than the Meteor, I am surprised its being discussed less than the Meteor.

Anyone with actual industry or airforce experience will tell you there is a range of perfect conditions ans there is combat conditions range if and Butts

Don’t read
Into in these perfect conditions ranges usaf does not advertise theses hundred of miles ranges but 20-30 nm at altitude actual is classified [emoji6]

Am I correct in understanding that true profits in this sector of industry lie in indigenous subsystems then??
Yep, but more orders are still good, even if we break-even. They basically serve as a stimulus for our economy, e.g., if someone orders something, our people get to do the production work.

Even order 12 is not bad ... it will help to attract other buyers as well
I think 12 is just a starter. Keep things on the down low

I mean Argentina and the UK aren't the best of friends, and if the UK sees Argentina increasing its military capability by a wide margin then escalation is bound to happen.

Which would not do well for Argentina. We've seen how the harriers performed against those Argentinian mirages and sky hawks.

Falkland war was a nighmare for Bristish Nacy, Exocet wrecked havoc on British ships.
Argentinian airofece performed really well but didnt have airescorts and most of A4s were shot by carrier born Harriers. JF17 is multirole and can provide what they need.

The Argentinians had only 10 excocets. The damage done to the British was done them even worse.

I think JF-17 has better chance. MiG-35 lacks AESA and Russia is politically weak and will bend to British pressure.

Correct, however, given the deep challenge Argentina is in financially; they are in no position to repay anything. If you recall even the kfirs they sought they could not fund. in this case, it is a band new platform and weapon system which will need to be bought, integrated and maintained; not to mention training.
