JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

I understand that 12 are to be delivered in 2024 to complete the batch of 50 ordered in 2020.
PAC can produce 25 Jeffs/Year, if they're budgetary pressures, then they can operate at half of the capacity.

yeah this is a misunderstanding alot of outlets had as the original number was 50 but it was quietly cut to 30 and then not touched upon again.
After the induction of 23 JF-17Bs, the procurement mix changed. So I believe the order is now expanded from 150 to 173 with 50 planes of each block and 23 JF-17Bs.

A bit unfair IMO but the blk 3 gave the viper neat nifty beating in wvr and bvr scenarios.
It's Aesa and ew have left Turks impressed.

What are you basing these claims on? Personal sources?

Viper is probably better than the Jeff in WVR

Only if Viper is armed with AIM-9X. Otherwise with Aim 9L against Jeff with PL-10 is no match at all. Jeff will be able to lock and shoot at even ~180 degrees.

Missiles are always very important. By 2008-09, even our JF-17 block 1 was our most capable aircraft when we had BVR capability on it via SD-10 but we hadn't received AMRAAMs back then. Our F-16s were good for nothing in BVR combats. Its the missiles which changed the game.

In this era, block52s being capable machines again cannot perform at their peak with older generation of missiles. We know, we will not get newer generation of US missiles (Aim-9x, AIM-120D).

JF-17 block III totally different & mean machine. AESA, EW suites put it in 4.5 gen category. It took a long time of serious commitment & development to bring this variant. I am certain, if we had block III available in 2019 then these would have snatched all the kills from our Vipers. Its huge difference between JF-17 block-2 radar to JF-17 b3 radar, huge difference between SD-10 and PL-15E, huge difference between PL-5 to PL-10e. Whole range of capabilities are their in block-3. It looks same but its not. Its 2x in cost and 3x in capabilities.

Hi,

Thank you for your post.

So many poster with no common sense or no knowledge---.

After the berlin wall came down---the F16's had a chance to do dog fights against the e german MIG29's.

The migs thrashed the F16's with their off bore site missiles.

All the F16 dancing and thrust to weight ratio were blown to smithereens---. And this is in the early 90's with 80's technology off bore sight missiles---.

Not entirely true re Mig-29 vs F-16s. Nato users learned how to negate its effectiveness by learning the weaknesses of those early gen migs. Of course early on it takes practice to go against a new weapon system. Practice makes perfect in this case.

Makes you wonder why Russia never got a red flag style exercise to train its pilots. Their lack of skill and planning showed itself in Ukraine early on
