India speeds up efforts to make full use of Indus River

China is building a dam on a tributary that doesn't flow into India.

Yes, India has the capability to divert huge amounts of water. Enough to starve Pak of water, but India won't do that of course.

India cannot divert Indus waters. Look at the geography. Jhelum and Chenab is another story.

If Pakistan govt is not saying anything then its just a media hype looking for masala news from both sides. India will not set this precedence or will stand to loose all rivers from China. So, Relax boys its just media bullcrap

good corner pakistan then ppl of pak will react otherwise they are drunk

Let India spend billions on the reservoir all we need to do is use one bomb to blow it up so no need to alarm, It is an economic war let them make it and we need to waste those billions only. Destroying is easy than building. In the end an inquiry will be asked at UN and it will never be resolved.
Here comes the bomb again....

It goes like this - India builds a couple of dams and Pakistan suffers from draught. Pakistan bombs Indian dams and pakistan suffers from flash floods. Plus, a full blown war when pakistan is under water.

as a international River India has no right to dishonor others right to water . if India done it China too can divert water from India which also impact Bangladesh . as a neighbor we need to share our water for peace stability in the region .

India will not keep quite for all those terror and nuke threats across the border. Peace must be two-way.
Will China block Brahmaputra rivers and show that Bangladesh is not their concern ?

Pakistan may have to invade Northern India.

Not because Pakistan wants to but because it may have no other choice.

Wait for the next round of battle that will be fought on Water which will destroy India.

It is a fait accompli.

Just wondering how this guy is a "Professional".
Even a first grade kid will laugh at your face for these kind of stupid arguments.

India is going to use its own part, we can use 19℅ of indus water and can build a reservoir which can hold specified amount of water according to treaty .
We are currently using only 11℅ of indus water and have no reservoir, we are only going to take what was promised in treaty
Modi is not that innocent and honest. But stealing water is curse. My forefather said long ago.

Useless nuclear dhamki incoming . Kardo ek do Dam nuke aur dub jao . Sabko aaram milega :D .
just like the useless surgical strikes dhamki your government and army tried to tell us. bacha bacha in pakistan was laughing at your surgical strikes along with the international media in the west who all laughed at these so called surgical strikes

India will shoot themselves in the foot if they do so, no 1 in the world stands by you when you are blocking water to millions of people. and this could potentially lead to war between two countries. So this is what Modis legacy will be remembered as the hindu leader who wanted to cut water supply to 170 million people in a country. 2 nuclear armed countries fighting over water is as petty as it gets.

then again he is a tea seller and a small hearted person, the dunya is too complex for him to understand so yeah can Modi decide to use up pakistans water yes, will pakistan declare was on India Yes, will the world stand with India absolutely not.

Correct, just as my mom told me when I was a teenager; "You can not make a happy home with stolen bricks"

how so dear, can you please explain ?
The dehydration provably made him delusional .
1. Yes that is perfectly legal, as there is no international law defining how to use such multi national rivers. The thumb rule is, whoever builds the dam first, gets the right to use the water. Indus Water treaty is the only exception in the world.

2. Of course, dams are build to divert water, that's the purpose. But what we fail to understand is the Brahmaputra in India is mostly rain fed, most of its water it gets, is after it crosses the Indian borders. The Tsangpo is a narrow river, it becomes mighty when it crosses the border and becomes Brahmaputra.

3. Technically its possible, just throw the treaty into the garbage and insist on following internationaly laid down rules.
1.there is no international law , India is a sovereign country not your imaginary countries lapdog . Treaties have been made and torn throughout history . They mean absolutely nothing over national interest.

2.bollox Bhramaputra is fed by the Himalayas even a toddler with pre school education knows this . The Tsangpo is literally the longest river in Tibet , by the time Bhramaputra reaches Bangladesh its already conjoined with other rivers like lohit , subansiri ,teesta etc. Sent by other mountains sources .

3.Treaties are bilateral , there isnt a single freaking reason why India shouldnt scrap this after all Pakistan has done . hell Pakistan broke the shimla agreement by invading kargil in 99.

There won't be a conflict nor will there be anything for Pakistan to ultimately worry about regardless of whatever the indians do or don't do. In fact this maybe the blessing in disguise to bring Pakistan's infrastructure up to world class standards. Thanks to Pakistan having a huge coastline, access to warm waters and the advances in modern science & technology, our water shortage problem can be solved by the folowing technology:

Ever wondered why the Israelis no longer consider the Litani river in South Lebanon central to their survival and existence? The above technology is the answer.

dehydration? are you really that immature
someones from the same school as Modi, you must have a masters degree in chest thumping.

you are a third world country, with the highest number of poor people, your army nor your government scares anyone, block the water and we will declare war. you won't get any sympathy from the international world.

let me repeat myself again no one or their dog in this world is scared of India. you aren't anybody yet stop with the fake chest thumping, you come from a country where in 2016 people get killed for eating a cheat burger GTFO here pretending you are some big superpower.

India will block Pakistans water just like the bollywood Surgical Strikes, no one in pakistan will know about it except the indians and they will declare it a moral victory.

In the west the media from NYT, the guardian to the CNN everyone laughed at Indian surgical strikes and the farce Modi created for himself. the whole worlds laughing at India yet Indians are sat there morally gloating about some fake surgical strikes that took place in Modis anus.

Look here folks someone who doesn't know the definition of "third world" trying to educate others:haha:

We WILL BUILD OUR DAM , GO CRY TO SOMEONE THAT CARES . Our water , our land, our people come first.

It all ready exists. The Israelis use it quite comprehensively. The technology is becoming more accessible and mainstream. That's why the Israelis no longer see the Litani river in South Lebanon as central to their survival or existence. They were just as if not more dependent on it than Pakistan is on the Indus. Pakistan already has an advantage for this technology in that we have a far bigger warm water coastline than Israel does. So whatever india does or doesn't with regards to the Indus will ultimately not affect Pakistan in the slightest. In fact it may push us into having complete World Class infrastructure.

You call it a fairy tale? Pre-May 1998 the indians also said for many decades that Pakistan's nuclear weapons program was also a fairy tale. And that "fairy tale" became reality. As will this one.

how so dear, can you please explain ?

You mess with the water you cause a serious problem. Keeping the fact in mind that Pakistan's economy is Agro based Pakistan will take every step necessary to show India it's right place in hell.
Then you'll know who is capable of what and what really inflicting pain to others mean.
Bossing around won't help you guys.
Wasn't the so called international isolation of Pakistan enough for your PM?
Trust me your country is nothing but a jinx to others in this region.
