Construction work on 27 hydropower projects underway

ISLAMABAD - PML-N govt is aggressively working on construction of twenty-seven hydropower projects, which will produce 21,281 megawatts cheap electricity.
According to Radio Pakistan quoting official sources said completion of these projects will not only overcome energy crisis but also bring down power tariff.
Water and Power Development Authority has prepared a master plan to construct new hydropower projects in the country. The master plan included long-term, medium-term and short-term hydropower projects.
The short-term projects currently under construction will be completed between one and four years time, adding 1,324 megawatt of electricity to National Grid.
These projects include Neelum-Jhelum, Gomal Zam, Nai Gaj, Jabban, Golen Gol, Kurram Tangi and Keyal Khwar hydropower projects.
The Government is actively working on 4,500 megawatt Diamer-Basha Dam near Chilas and allocated seventeen billion rupees in current fiscal year for the acquisition of 18,357 acres of privately owned land.
Naulong Dam and Tarbela Fourth Extension hydropower projects are ready for the construction, which will add another 1,414 megawatt of electricity to the system by 2017.
Seventeen hydropower projects are in the planning phase, which include Munda, Bara, Tank Zam, Akhori, Shyok, Lower Palas, Lower Spat Gah, Phandar, Basho, Harpo, Pattan, Thakot, Tarbela Fifth Extension, Middle Spat Gah, and Upper and Middle Palas Valley Schemes.
These projects will add 10,442.8 megawatt to the system.

...easy going...I hope dams are completed ..or else the hard earned money will be converted into hard concrete ,,by someone over enthu...
