...says a Indian?

Admitted that India has lots of illiterate, but Indians are more sane than most internet Vietnamese.

Conclusion: sanity is more important than literacy. Ignorance can be cured through education, insanity ... well, it's tough. :hitwall:

Back to the topic.

China may try to make up past expenditure deficit. In fact in 1970-80s, China spent most of the money in developing the country and ignored the military spending, thus introduced lots deterioration of international security, such as Taiwan independence, Vietnam/India challenge of China.

Now every thing seems calms down.

China perhaps needs to double the spending in next 3 years.

The WZ-9 turboshaft is home built problem is it is a lower powered engine, the better engine the WZ16 is being built and tested for a heavy WZ10 like the Apache. Heli's are one of the area's where China has a weakness in I would say, had to buy the mi17's but those will not be needed once the Z20 is inducted.

engines across the board is where china has a weakness lol but each and every one has shown progress

China is hemmed in with Russia in the North, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, US Naval Forces in the West, Vietnam, Australia and India in the South.

Its very hard for China to break out and expand its military might when it has so many adversaries.

US is lucky it has these two vast oceans and two friendly countries that give it impressive strategic depth and ability to deploy power anywhere in the world very quickly.

Look yourself at the mirror, you moron. Who starts and makes troubles to neighbors such as claiming the SC sea as your internal waters?

...says a Taiwanese or Chinese? your childish foreign policy makes more enemies than friends. What a stupidity!
Did you forget something in the 70-80s? What you did to your neighbor in the South?
Now every thing seems calms down.
err...Senkaku islands?

Understood. China needs to catch up with America.

China maintained world's largest army more than 3 million all the times, it was only recently number of troops were reduced in PLA to 2.5 million. So, I don't believe your claim that China was spending money mostly on development in 70s-80s.

China should and will hike its defence budget at a pace roughly equal to the nominal economic growth rate for the next 20 years.

This means that China's military spending will grow at an annual average rate of between 10-15% for the next 20 years.

Well considering their mammoth sized defense budget, it should be fast and on time. Still i think fighters like A-5 are very obsolete are not good for Chinese Air defense and there is also some old lingering subs and combatant ships. Considering their pace they will gone soon in next couple of years.

A5's have already been out of the service both from Chinese AF & PAF, China has inducted J10, J11, J15 also Russian Flankers Su 27 & Su 30. ate least 3 new types af AC'S are in pipeline J16, j31 & J20 so the Chinese induction & advancement is fastest among the other regional and Global Powers, since the beginning of 21'st century

China has claimed SCS since ROC when Vietnamese were slaves of France, only unknown to your history-less people.

Unlike some ingrates when they need Chinese help they sent out their PM named Van to China and said SCS is China's, when the ingrates unified their country, the untrustworthy cry the other way.

Vietnam's only capability is to watch the dust, stirred up by China's swift military moving forward, turns up and settles down, and nothing else.

If you study further, you'll find the big army was busy farming to feed themselves, no good weapons, no modern trainings...

In addition, of the 2.25 mil many are not active (reserved) personals. And your "recently" is 1980s, almost 30 years ago.

Well we are with you guys too. See, whoever is ally of India, we will stand beside them. We haven't given up support to Iran, Japan, South Korea or any other country. We have supported Dalai Lama, against China's wishes, whereas your country is important for India for our strategic and economic purpose.

I think as for as India is concerned, we will keep increasing our defense capabilities and will try to help solve out problems with China or any other country which ask us to mediate IF China and Vietnam wants.

So its all about national interests. We have our concerns with China too, but we will solve it with peace talks and diplomacy.

It is OK for India to be with Vietnam, but be careful of ingrates... and untrustworthy partners.

@gpit Coming from American makes it a joke. You guys have your own interest and you act according to it, even if that means millions die.

Many countries do that. One can't trust US over anything. Its a fact buddy. But I don't find it weird.

No clue. I googled the numbers. Actually VN´s defence spending is top secret.

I dont blame you because only the biggest fool will reveal everything relating to defense budget to the world

we wont lose sleep over this conjecture. Some in the list are too weak; some only react upon actual conflict and this group may turn into our allies or stay neutral while some are just having more imminent troubles of their own that a war against us is more distant than you think!

Yes breakthroughs on the WS13, WS15, and WS20 are expected to be made this decade, turbofans and turboprops are the last few areas in which China is behind in.

China says SC sea has been its internal waters since ages. So tell me why you started claiming SC Sea in the middle of 1900´s, and not ealier? you clown!

You are so funny. How many times more do you want to discuss about the intention of the visit and letter?
ingrate seems to be your favorite word. :blah: :blah:

You are living in a fantasy world!

China´s army in the 1970´s was poorly trained and equipped, stuck in Mao´s ideology warfare, a disorganised bunch without any discipline. Thanks to encounters with Vietnam, PLA has today become a modern army, capable to challenge America. You can say "Thank You VN!".

China's swift military moving forward? What a joke!
Without pudency, Vietnam´s 2-week blitzkrieg in Cambodia (and occupying of Laos) was decisive and deadly, comparable to German army victories at the begin of WW II.

:)

Yes, that´s the fact. Nations act based upon egoistic interests.
