Is that the launcher? Why does it look so different from previous pictures?

i believe it has been the same - people have posted 'wrong' pictures / video's of the babur

Is that the launcher? Why does it look so different from previous pictures?

Well it is different from previous pictures, as there was no canister first shown in tests, this time a round canister is involved which means further development has been done and the system is not ready for being launched on surface naval ships.

Not ready??? I think you mean now ready... :what:

Canister can mean quite a few things;

1-If this is ALSO the storage canister then it means that the missile and the warhead would be kept together (fitted) in a ready form inside the canister and the canister would be stored, which would imply a very quick deployment of the missile. The missile is stored in the canister with certain gases which keep the missile safe from the outside elements. This makes it much easier to store it for longer periods without maintenance , handling and transport.This also means no fueling, no initialization and no angarzi. Just take out the canister from the storage area, tell him where to go, seeddha karo, tey o janday aye ji...

2-If this canister is a storage-cum-launch canister this also mean that Babur can also be fired from a Silo > firing from a Silo means a workable second strike capability. Woahoo..! Now if the canister is Cold Launch capable it would mean that the Silos are reusable and as they would suffer minimum blast/launch effects, they can be fairly camouflaged and hidden, which again is a prerequisite of a second strike capability :tup:
