The Bangalore city Police have prohibited VHP leader Praveen Togadia from participating in a Virat Hindu Samajothsava scheduled to be held in Bangalore from February 5th to 11th based on a report by two deputy commissioners stating that the entry of the provocative leader to the city could cause law and order problems.
Bangalore Police commissioner M N Reddi has in an order barred Togadia, the International Working President of the VHP, from entering Bangalore and participating in any public meetings in the city. Togadia was scheduled to participate in the Virat Hindu Samajothsava on February 8 at the National College Ground in South Bangalore.
The police have not objected to the event per se. Meanwhile, a delegation from the VHP and other pro-Hindu organisations meet police commissioner M N Reddi on Tuesday for clarity about the order banning Togadia. According to the police Togadia is a staunch proponent of Hindutva ideology and is known to make provocative and inflammatory speeches against different sections of society which could result in law and order problems. Police said that the ban on Togadia was based on his antecedents.
“In many parts of the country police have registered complaints against Togadia for making inflammatory statements and showing disrespect to the Constitution of India. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, till August 2014, a total number of 19 criminal cases have been booked against him in different states across the country,” states the order banning Togadia. - See more at: Bangalore Police bar VHP chief Praveen Togadia from entering city | The Indian Express
