Army takes 'strong exception' to attempts made to drag its leadership in political discourse: ISPR

The Army has taken a "strong exception" to "intensified and deliberate attempts" to drag its name into the country's ongoing political discourse by "some political leaders, journalists and analysts", according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
The military's media wing noted that attempts to involve the armed forces and its senior leadership in the political discourse were "manifest through direct, insinuated or nuanced references made by some political leaders, few journalists and analysts on public forums and various communication platforms, including social media".
"This practice of unsubstantiated, defamatory and provocative statements/remarks is extremely damaging," the ISPR said.
It added that the military took strong exception to such "unlawful and unethical practices" and expected everyone to abide by the law and keep the armed forces out of political discourse in the "best interest of the country".

Editorial: The logic of the ‘conspiracy theory’ gets fuzzier the more Imran Khan speaks on the topic
The ISPR statement did not specify which incident or incidents it was referring to. However, its statement came hours after former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, during a rally in Abbottabad, railed against the concept of neutrality, saying that God hadn't permitted human beings to remain neutral when the time comes to stand up for justice and support the good.
"God will ask you if you struggled against an imported government. You wont be able to say [and make the excuse that] you were neutral," he said.
Imran had made similar remarks in March, claiming that only animals can stay neutral and that humans either side with good or evil. That statement was made a day after the military’s spokesperson had categorically stated that the army had nothing to do with politics and called for avoiding unnecessary discussion and speculation about the army’s alleged involvement in political affairs.
On Friday, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, while addressing a rally in Fateh Jang, had criticised former intelligence chief and Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Faiz Hameed.
Referring to Imran's recent podcast appearance where he said the intelligence chief was the "eyes and ears" of the government, Maryam had said: "We know that he wasn't your eyes and ears [rather] he was your hands through which you throttled your political opponents."
Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema has sought the army’s intervention to lead the province out of the crises plaguing it for months despite the armed forces repeatedly refusing to be pushed into the country’s perpetual political quagmire.
The governor wrote a letter to Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, requesting him to play a defining role in the current chaotic times, as he was of the opinion that the constitutional crisis-ridden Punjab had been held hostage.
Last month, senior retired army officials termed audio clips attributed to them, in which statements were given against the Pakistan Army and its leadership, "fake" and a "conspiracy against the Pakistan Army".
The clarifications from the retired army officials had come two days after the country's military leadership took notice of an ongoing "propaganda campaign" against the army on social media and endorsed the position taken by the army's leadership on the political crisis in the country that climaxed with ex-premier Imran Khan’s ouster.
The military came under criticism last month, especially in the wake of Imran's ouster through a successful vote of no-confidence. Trends against the armed forces and its leadership saw intense activity on social media platforms such as Twitter.
According to a Dawn report, the ‘Imported Hukoomat Namanzur’ (imported government unacceptable) hashtag in Urdu alone generated a volume of 17 million tweets, while one anti-army hashtag generated over 69,000 tweets and a similar one over 410,000 tweets in the past few days.
The Federal Investigation Agency had also launched a crackdown against those allegedly involved in running these online campaigns and was making arrests.
The watchdog has also initiated an inquiry against Bol anchorperson Sami Ibrahim for allegedly transmitting "anti-state" videos and statements on various social media platforms, including regarding the army.

Kendine dushen a'glamaz - He who stumbles down by himself shouldn't cry....

What were the Pak's top military leaders thinking? Is it that easy to voluntarily fall into the political black hole and come out unscathed???

Let it be a lesson for them. Now, give Biat to IK, and be good "boys" like the way the Turkish generals are now....

When you become the "boys" of the White House, the humiliation of the "House Negros" falls upon you by HIS PERMISSION....

"Don't worry, our boys have done it" - President Carter upon the 1980 coup in Turkey [Allah Kahr etsin - May Allah destroy all of them both in the Dunya and Ahiret]

ISPR needs to stop. These boomer generals think by sending vigos, harrasing journalists and by issuing "warnings", the educated majority of Pakistan will now sit silent. Who are they fooling?
I have always defended my army but army needs to be shown that they DONOT OWN US. THEY ARE NOT SUPERIOR TO US.
1) Army is responsible for border security, yet we have illegals coming to Pakistan and spreading terrorism.
2) Balochistan has been under army's heavy influence yet it is still suffering from terrorism and is still underdeveloped.
3) During Bajwa sahab 4 PMs have changed.
4) Ispr say PA is not political, donot drag our name and yet they take U-TURN in NSC based on english literature WTF! Bajwa Sahab is giving foreign policy statements contradictory to Civil Govt policy. Ispr says we are not political.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! PAKISTANIS ARE TIRED OF THIS MAFIA.

Haha. Hey you need to get out of political sphere first before you take a strong exception of people talking about political interference. In fact it is the army who has to do a lot before people can change their narrative and start believing your narrative.

The political engineering and interference is so obvious in last 10 years that not even a single Pakistani is unaware of military's role in political domain.

Oh please shut-up and next time open the Supreme Court at Midnight Sunday to give us the next ISPR press briefing....

Even the establishment thinks most Pakistan's are donkey brains to believe their BS....

Pakistan Army is accountable and duty bound to answer to the People of Pakistan ... You know the people Pakistan Army took an OATH and SWORE TO PROTECT.

I want to ask a question to Pakistan Army, being a Pakistani Citizen .... What was the Chief of Army Staff doing in Washington DC at the time when Pakistan's Prime Minister was on a State Visit to Moscow?

Answer this question CAREFULLY and do NOT forget your OATH to protect Pakistan.

As they say there is a silver lining in everything, the best thing came out of this IK removal is, it made us all to think what's going wrong with our country and who is responsible for all this mess. It hurts many of us to see our country on financial crutches, day time robbery, political corruption, political manipulation, all blatant lies, threats not to open your mouth and then expecting respect. Thought you are all signed up for guarding the frontiers what are you doing in the Islamabad supreme courts? Wah wah.
The best loved army by a nation are responsible for so many ills thanks to few generals of self interests whose loyalties lies elsewhere. Bajwa and company are no more different then Yahya and they should not expect their demise any different. You can give me Raheil Sharif like general any day just remove this little man from my sight ASAP.
