Armenia’s acquisition of a large batch of the 9K129 Kornet-E anti-tank guided missile system from Russia has confirmed by the state media.

Armenian state media has released video footage showing the 9K129 Kornet-E anti-tank guided missile system allegedly received from Russia as part of Russia’s state export loan of $200 million to Armenia for the acquisition of military goods.

An undisclosed number of Kornet-Es were acquired for the Armenian Army under the country’s ongoing military modernisation programme.

The irony of the situation is that Russia also delivers armoured vehicles and tanks to Azerbaijan, a country currently which is in territorial and ethnic conflict with Armenia.

The Kornet-E is the name given to the export version (E-export) of the Russian Kornet anti-tank guided missile system. The missile carries the GRAU designation 9M133 and the NATO reporting name AT-14 Spriggan.

The Kornet is a third-generation or Russian anti-tank missile system, developed to replace the Fagot and Konkurs missile systems. It is designed to destroy tanks, including those fitted with explosive reactive armour (ERA), fortifications, entrenched troops as well as small-scale targets.

Bad news for our ally.

It's nothing ground breaking. Direct attack weapon system, Azerbaijan has loitering munitions with NLOS capability. Untill Armenia treats it's neighbours with respect and gives back ther occupied Azeri territory, they won't have enough money to buy NLOS weapons on their own.

Hopefully Azerbaijan invests some money into OMTAS and sustains technological supremacy.
