12 Megaprojects to Go Live in Three Months (Bengali Video)

Trackage from DoHazari (outside Chittagong city) to seaside resort Cox's Bazaar (CXB) is complete, footage of CXB Terminal under construction and further extended trackage to Ramu toward Myanmar border shown. CXB is probably one of the nicer train terminals in South Asia. Pujaris don't get your panties in a knot now.

Dhaka Metro Rail MRT-6 route | Agargaon-Motijheel Phase Inauguration tomorrow, mood is kind of festive.

But trains will only run to Motijheel from Uttara until 11:30 AM. And Farmgate, Karwan Bazaar, Shahbagh and TSC stations will not be open for a while. Still, this is a great step for reducing the traffic jams.

Motijheel Terminus interior, will have shopping and restaurants apparently

Kudos to China for helping with the project. Long live Bangla-China friendship:china:

After Dhaka Metro MRT-6 2nd phase, inauguration of MRT-1 terminal construction, now it's official inauguration for two MRT-5 routes (One Northern route Hemayetpur-Bhatara - to be built first, then one Southern).

Matarbari and other CXB projects updates

Dhaka Airport 3rd Terminal Progress update (1st and 2nd terminals will get connected with the 3rd)

This is from 8 days ago - right after the inauguration

Your country is tailor made for heavy rail usage - don't go down this expressway route

It'll only increase your import costs (fuel, cars, busses etc)
Bangladesh is in the process of converting all its metre gauge rail lines into broad gauge rail lines. China has got the contract.

How much did the government spend on this project?

Tk 10,330 crore.

This is an Urban Freeway. Only within Dhaka city. Not an Inter-city Freeway.

Eventually all railways will be converted to broad gauge and will be electrified as well via Chinese contracts.

Dhaka - Cox's Bazaar Rail link (via CTG) inauguration

Bangladesh Railway is implementing many projects to bring the entire country under the rail network. In continuation of that, the construction work of about 101 km single line dual gauge railway from Chittagong's Dohazari to Cox's Bazar started in 2018. Cox's Bazar was connected with the railway through the official inauguration of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There is a high possibility of connecting this railway with Matarbari deep sea port in the future after the start of this railway which is included in the Priority (Fast Track) project of the Government of Bangladesh. This railway will make the economy of Bangladesh more dynamic.

I have never travelled by train :P

Me neither - but the better trains aren't bad with airplane type seats.

Will go to Sylhet maybe next time I'm back.
If you go to Sylhet, please try to visit Sylhet cantonment of 17 infantry division. Take as many pictures as possible then post it here on PDF. Thank you.:-)
