12 Megaprojects to Go Live in Three Months (Bengali Video)

Dhaka Bypass Expressway status - TLDR: great progress lately

How is the GoB going to pay back the loan? Mega projects are cool as long as we have the capacity to pay back the money we take from the donor agencies.

The same way India is going to - and they are in a far worse situation as far as debt. Our debt is half the rate of theirs.

Ability to pay back using credit depends on something called the debt-to-GDP ratio (National debt in relation to gross domestic product or GDP), and I believe ours are in the 40 percent range while Indian economy is far worse at 84%.

They are not worried so we should not be either. Even up to 2028 ours will not exceed 40% or so. And then look at India's (Churir Mahotshav). Laver taka baghey khai. Your national credit rating depends on this I believe.

@Homo Sapiens bhai am I too far off the mark?

Thank you for the statistics. It's revealing. I am not going to worry about our debt anymore.:-)

Chittagong is the second largest city in Bangladesh after the capital Dhaka. Chittagong is also the commercial capital and major seaport of the country. This port city is the dream-gate of economic prosperity to our country, which is situated on the banks of the Karnaphuli river - which is very important to this city. The port is on the estuary of this river. And the tunnel has been built right under this river delta. Now Bangladesh has entered the age of road tunnels. Which is the first in South Asia.

Thank you China for the tunnel:-)

Services to be suspended on Saturday for PM’s inauguration

Passengers will be able to ride the metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel from November 5, a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurates the Agargaon-Motijheel section of the country's first metro rail.

Metro rail operations will be suspended on November 4 to facilitate the inauguration programme, MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, told reporters at a press conference today.

From November 5, metro rail services between Agargaon and Motijheel will run from 7:30am to 11:30am, while the Uttara-Agargaon service will run from 7:30am to 8:30pm.

Initially, three stations will be opened on the Agargaon-Motijheel route. They are located at Farmgate, the Secretariat (Jatiya Press Club), and Motijheel.

The remaining four stations (Bijoy Sarani, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh and Dhaka University TSC) will open over the next three months, and then the hours of operation will slowly be extended.

It takes 17 minutes to travel from Uttara to Agargaon on the metro and it will take 14 minutes to get from Agargaon to Motijheel initially, meaning the full trip from Uttara to Motijheel will take around 31 minutes.

Once all the stations are operational, it will take 38 minutes to reach Motijheel from Uttara.
