China submarines outnumber U.S. fleet: U.S. admiral

soon? months, years, decades?? how many naval bases does China have around the world o_O

surely we'll see 20 Chinese aircraft carriers, 60 destoryers and 200 submarines soon :bounce::china::bounce:

AHAHAHAHAHHA...........LMAO , that was funny bro.
But you are right though, China is still wayyy behind the U.S NAVY/military, nobody denies that, not even Chinese members themselves(well apart from ultra nationalistic ones.lol). I think the U.S military lobby is simply playing up the China threat so as to get more fund, nothing much, and also scare more smaller Asian countries into partnering/joining the U.S even more than they are already.loool . Nothing much to read into this. Chinas power projection capabilities still lags that of France or even Britain. Forget about the U.S. :D

"Fairly amazing submarines" yet "inferior quality". Talk about contradiction.

Fairly Amazing Submarine, as in the amount of time it took China to begin not just assembling them but to begin designing and working out the metallurgy.

Inferior quality, as in long way to go to match anything the US can put together now.

Stop being a cry baby. What does number of naval bases do with the numbers of submarine? I give you a dozen naval port and you have only one submarine. Does this makes you superior to others who has one port but a dozen submarines?

Submarines can't just dock into any random port, there's a reason special ports are constructed solely for submarines. The more the ports the more chances a submarine can deport and go hunting without the enemy naval intelligence being able to locate it until it shows itself.

2. 70+ submarines attacking merchant vessels is dangerous.

If i'm not mistaken, the Chinese economy depends on Exports. The shipping industry isn't going to react kindly if Chinese Subs take down merchant vessels left and right will it? Good luck in finding ports for your Shipping Industry to port in.

Why would we do that?

In the current global status quo, we are adding over $1 trillion to our GDP every year, more than anyone else on Earth by far.

These are meant for deterrence.

We're not planning on invading Iraq or Afghanistan or anything like that, we are keeping others at bay, so we can continue our vital economic development.

And submarines are one of the best methods of conventional deterrence. A large and powerful submarine fleet will make it far too expensive for any other country to contemplate initiating hostilities against us.

I don't think France or Britain have the projection capability far away from Europe.

You guys even needed the US guidance during the war against Libya.

You dont think France and Britain have more power projection capabilities than China? loool You sometimes make me laugh my friend. I wont even argue about this one, since you dont even have any power projection apart from your immediate neighbourhood in SCS. We have been involved far far away from our shores way back for decades now, China is still just taking baby steps to even start learning about this.:) So you are just starting, so no reason to be embarassed you still lag behind even France and the U.K in this department.:)

Your air force and navy are too small in scale, that's enough to beat a weak country like Argentina, not far being enough to fight against a major power.

China can easily duplicate your 1982 war against Argentina, but the problem is that our navy will get intercepted/ambushed by our rival the USN if we are going too far from our mainland, while you didn't have this problem.

Here's power projection French style!!!

MANAMA, Bahrain — A French aircraft carrier has joined the coalition fight against Islamic militants in Iraq, French media reports said.

Le Figaro newspaper’s website said eight aircraft from the carrier Charles de Gaulle launched their first raid Monday morning against Islamic State forces in Iraq.

“The integration of the Charles de Gaulle in the operation (in Iraq) began this morning,” said a French defense official cited by the Agence France-Presse news agency.

The nuclear-powered carrier entered the Persian Gulf on Feb. 15 and completed a port visit to Bahrain on Sunday. French officials told Stars and Stripes that the port visit here was important to finalize some “operational details” with U.S. 5th Fleet. This included “integrating” the French carrier group with that of the USS Carl Vinson in the Persian Gulf.

The Charles de Gaulle is carrying a dozen Rafale fighter-bombers and nine Super Étendard strike jets, according to Le Figaro. Its carrier group includes several ships and a nuclear submarine with about 2,600 sailors.

The group, which is on a five-month deployment in the Indian Ocean, is expected to remain on station in the Persian Gulf between four and eight weeks, Le Figaro said.

The 42,000-ton Charles de Gaulle is the flagship of the French fleet. It is the only one outside the U.S. Navy to use the so-called Catobar (Catapult Assisted Take-Off But Arrested Recovery) system, whereby planes are launched by catapults and recovered by arrestor wires. This allows fighter-bombers to carry much heavier loads than the alternative short takeoff systems used by most of the navies operating aircraft carriers.

Who says the French can project power?

Well, the ISIS doesn't even have any air superiority, so bombing these primitives is nothing special.

I don't know why China and USA waste their effort, technology, and financial capability to stare to each others. Why not combine their effort to realize the humanity dream to reach and colonize the new frontier and begin a new era (Space Era) for humanity?

To be done 10 years is a bit of stretch, I say 15-20 years.

When our nuclear sub is becoming the most advanced in the world, then I think China will start to mass produce it.

That's not true. China's current Type 093B is a rival of the modified LA class with the pump-jet propulsion and advanced VLS cells. Even the USN acknowledges this.

China only needs to pull out the new subs to rival the Seawolf/Virginia class.

Also, China is not Iraq, they are not even in the same league.

Saddam's Iraq was a fake power wannabe, since they didn't even have the capability to produce their own tank.

Back in the 1990s, the US dared to bomb Iraq, yet they didn't dare to touch a much weaker China.

Hi,

It is good to dream---Seawolf and Virginia class---you won't even come close to them maybe 25 to 50 years----. The reason they did not touch china is that you would be a future CHRISTIAN nation---. Why do you think that they let No Korea be---in due time that would be another Christian nation.

whos talking about power projection, US has all her subs spread out around the world, while our focus is on 25% of the pacific.

sure US has a bigger Navy, because it is designed to fight off of an enemy coastline, the USN and USMC is to take on combined fired power of enemy Army, airforce and Navy, thats why the US introduced AirSea Battle Doctrine, because USN alone wont be enough for China's strong A2/AD capability.

China has more than enough to take out every US base in western Pacific including Guam and keep the US out. USA knows it and that's why it started to develop prompt strike weapon, a fast conventional weapon that can be fired from far away.

its like chess, both are trying to get ahead, it is just costing US much more to match's China's move.

lol, now you are making the baseless assumption.

The US doesn't care you are Christian or not, if you are strong enough to challenge their hegemony, they will come after you. However, they know it is impossible to militarily take down another major nuclear power, so they will sponsor the fifth column groups to destroy you within, just like they have done to the USSR.

No, China won't become a Christian nation in the future, it is purely myth and propaganda.

BTW, Russia right now is both Christian and White, then why the US still won't let her go and keep threatening her national security from the issues of Ukraine?

BTW, in the next decade, China will even surpass the US in the nominal GDP, and if we still won't come out any nuclear sub that is comparable to the Seawolf/Virginia class, then I think we should bury ourselves 10,000 feet under the ground.

lol I guess he forgot about how the UK project power and DEFEATED argentina near their home turf...Maybe they never exist as they wont read about that in school. Lol, i dunno

If that is not power projection, then I dont know what isn Thats would be like asking Chinese navy to fight in Indonesia water and win a war with indonesia...
