Pakistan’s regional languages face looming extinction

Good, we need to all start speaking one language.

I am not married yet, but like my nephews my children will automatically learn English in School, for Urdu i will take them to Pakistan to study there for few years, their first language will be Punjabi that will be learned at home.

Unfortunately in Australia i don't have much choice. Thats why i said i will be happy if she even learns urdu.
I feel for you bro, its good as long as they learn urdu I guess, that is our national language after all.
Best of luck with that :-)

I have visited Islamabad Rawalpindi Lahore Faisalabad and Gujranwale. The youth I met from these Punjabi cities have adopted Urdu and English. Punjabi is mainly spoken in the rural heartlands of Punjab.

Well many of my neighbours are pathans and baltis and in a multi ethnic city you have to use Urdu otherwise things get confusing

its sad to know that newer generations dont know a word of the native language heck they consider them not worthy . one sad example Beacon house labelling Punjabi as foul language . Our system of education ( in Gov schools and other avg private schools ) is such that we dont have command over any language we speak , me being an example .
