First Project-15B Bangalore-class DDG hull : satellite pics

French Maitri SR SAM is on the runway but India has no $$$ to fund them. The French want to use it as offset for Rafale but by doing so they can get away with offset obligation without sharing technology. Arms deals are very murky!

BTW CIWS will remain 4 X AK 630. IN will however later on replace AK 630 with a VLS based SR SAM, I hope it will be Maitri, something we can build on and call our own like the JV with Barak 8.

No,the AK 630s will never be replaced with an SRSAM based CIWS but some other gun based CIWS like Goalkeeper or something like that.An SRSAM might become an addition to the gun based CIWS,but it sure hell would never substitute it.Mark my words for it.

IF modifications are made to the CIWS then yes it will be a combination of guns and SR-SAM like on the Delhis.

type 055 is a different league from kolkata.................

We are comparing capabilities not vls , tonnage, etc. I mean to say if the INS Kolkata finds itself in a tight spot, it can be a very tough cookie!

Found a picture of P 15B, it shows flush deck and integrated mast, nice!

Indeed,,i am not denying the fact at all:tup:

Never Goalkeeper or phalanx. Not in a hundred years. The AK 630 has the best performance for any such system. As per final design it is there.

Barak 8 can kill a P 800 with 90 % and 99% accuracy with two at 500m away from ship. A single Brahmos can rip an A/C to shreds. That big a missile moving at mach 3 has enough kinetic energy to make it look like an armor piercing .50 cal go through warm butter. The 300kg explosive that goes off is the finishing move.

China has only a F 3000N for defence which can intercept mach 1.8 class missiles effectively. Imagine two Brahmos fired at the chinese vessel.

Brahmos is a Brahmastra.

Bhai yeh tum kahaan se utha ke laye ho!? Single Bmos can shred an A/C, not a chance, an inbound with hypersonic terminal velocity won't be able to do that either. To "shred" an aircraft carrier you need a saturation attack. Desist from using hyperbole.

You have to hit below waterline. Even sea eagle can do that.

The BAe Sea Eagle is a medium weight sea-skimming anti-ship missiledesigned and built by BAe Dynamics (now MBDA). It is designed to sink or disable ships up to the size of aircraft carriers in the face of jammingand other countermeasures including decoys. Its users include the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, the Royal Saudi Air Force, and the Indian Navy.

This is typical brochure panti by the OEMs, the Americans and the Soviets both ran simulations, even if one disregards the AAW component it would take significant and multiple hits to sink a carrier.

In fact @gambit can even show you the testing that was done on actual ships to reach that conclusion. Feel free to request him to do so.

INS Kolkata has 16 Brahmos. Use them like the room distributes money at his wedding! :woot: :sniper::woot:

AAW of China for sea skimming missiles of Brahmos class is lacking. Hypothetically their Type 052C are sitting ducks!

Yes, 16 BMOS will sink anything that deigns to step into Varuna's domain.

That still does not equate to shredding an A/C with a single Bmos.

The brochure very conveniently will state that so and so missile can be used to sink a carrier, which btw any AShM can be used for with differing performance parameters kept aside, the brochure will ALWAYS fail to mention how many of said missiles will be required for the job though.

BTW see what happens when you hit a A/C with Brahmos below the water line.

PS : Let the physics take care of the rest!
