Well i was just wondering about meat consumption and i did little research on the subject and found that South Asia is among the lowest when it comes to meat consumption per capita. 0-20 Kg

Now on the other hand it is good as, if combined population of South Asia (1.6 billion) starts eating meat it will create huge change in CO2 emission and a lot water and grain will be wasted to produce the meat.

e.g. :- 3091000 liters of water for producing 200 kilos of boneless beef.

What you guys have to say ? Is it good to be a nation with low meat intake? Or you believe that higher meat intake shows better condition of a nation.

In the early 21st century, the biggest meat-eating countries were Luxembourg, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. The average annual meat consumption for Luxembourg residents was more than 300 pounds (136.5 kg) per person. By comparison, the per-person consumption in the United States was 276.4 pounds (125.4 kg) per year. India boasted one of the lowest annual rates, at 7 pounds (3.2 kg) per person, even though India has become one of the world's leading exporters of beef.

More about meat-eating countries:

  • China consumes the most pork per year, at around 88 pounds (40 kg) per person per year.
  • The top US states for slaughtering cattle were Nebraska, Kansas and Texas.
  • Mongolia had the highest per-person consumption of mutton and goat. Its average annual consumption of goat and mutton was almost 90 pounds (40.7 kg) per person.

It depends on which meat is being counted who did the "survey"

Secondly as per the country...most of us are too poor to afford eating meat...

Lastly, Mongolia prob needs the sheep where they also get their clothing and other goods from the animal...plus where it is cold you either eat more meat or you drink more to keep warm....or wear tons of fur (also from animals)

As for water needed for boneless meat...have you seen how much water is needed to irrigate fields for growing vegetables (they dont grown on air you know) and also how much water is used to finally put 200kg of vege on the table?

LOL and Riaz haq posted a graph which showed that meat consumption per capita of India is less than that of Pakistan. He must be deeply dissapointed now. :omghaha:

Low inferiority complex threads are back.

It has nothing to do with Inferiority complex, Just while doing this little research i remembered how here on PDF paksitanis brag about Meat and their consumption.

Pakistan's per capita is 14.6, Nepal 9.9, Sri Lanka 6.4, India 4.6 & Bangladesh 4.0Kg.

Check the facts before opening your big mouth.

It is still under 0-20 kg category. As for India we know that most of us are Vegetarians but what about Pakistan and BD.

BD by stereotyping should have lot of Fish intake and in Pakistan Beef and chicken ? NO?

No one asking about the source?

Lets see the weblink provides where the data was taken:

Meat consumptionFAO stat2009http://faostat.fao.org/site/610/DesktopDefault.aspx?PageID=610#ancorMeat consumption per capita refers to the total meat retained for use in country per person per year. Total meat includes meat from animals slaughtered in countries, irrespective of their origin, and comprises horsemeat, poultry, and meat from all other domestic or wild animals such as camels, rabbits, reindeer, and game animals

Same website shows CO2 emission per capita and doesnt put America on the top when scientists in journals have reported worst cases in America :coffee:

CO2 emisssionsEIA2011http://www.eia.gov/countries/data.cfm

EIA is of course American so we can see the biasedness of the data...

It is interesting that the male cardio-vascular diseases of Vegetarian Indians is no different from the meat eaters :coffee: Heck China 1 of the largest meat eater has the lowest in cardio vascular diseases...so vege Indians nay poun mein kulhara mar liyea

And women with cardio vascular diseases is lowest in N.America and Europe...can be understandable that meat eaten is managed properly by them...

However male cancer death seems moderate in meat eating N.America...However female cancer seems high everywhere...

Dont really see any relationship between cancer or cardio vascular with meat based on these results at least!
