Pakistan cruise missiles pose key challenge to India

@gslv mk3

Keeping the Russian Brahmos based on the Oniks sold by Indo-Russian consortium aside , what else do you have today which is operational ?

Because Raad and Babur have been tested before and are operational today . Because the cruise missile technology isn't something which is fairly easy to master . Pakistan has done it with operational systems and working towards new missiles . The 15 years claims may or may not be true but you still have around a decade to reach , where Pakistan is , in this field .

15 years? Are you joking? We are ahead of you in supersonic cruise missiles,we currently have Indo Rudssian Brahmos(300-500km range)we are developing a longrange Supersonic Cruise missile(range 800km,test firing in 2014)and we are researching on hypersonic cruise missiles, likeIndo Russian Brahmos 2 and Indian HSTDV demonstrator which uses Scramjets-Can pakistan even make its own Ramjets??
And you are claiming that youare 15 years ahead in cruise missile technology?:woot: keep those rants to yourself.

Lol.. Brahmos is nothing but a 280-90 KM russian Onik/Yakhont missile.. and the range is low because under MTCR rules you cant import a missile above tht range.. as for 800km ranged super sonic CM.. yeah right kiddo.. the so called failed nirbhay is to have a range of 700km at max and is sub sonic... now compare tht with our CM,ALCMs etc... as @secure said... you are still behind Pakistan.

I thought we were discussing cruise missiles. The post i quoted meant pakistan is ahead in cruise missiles.

Why only india kid, why not pakistan is ahead of US, China and Russia as well? 15 years, idiot.

Where did you get the 15 year figure from ??

Right now the only area where pakistan is ahead of India is Subsonic cruise missile technology .

Bu we already have programs for it and the gap will be filled within a decade .

Pakistan tested Babar cruise missile in 2004

India yet to test Cruise missile

9 saal ho gaye hain India na abhi tak Subsonic Cruise missile nahi bane

Shadow Hunter@
Kido does i said Pakistan is ahead of USA No
dont lives in Dream

Pakistan is 15 year ahead of India in Cruise missile Technology and this is Fact

Relax. Pakistan is ahead of india in the field of missiles technology. Pakistan choses not to show its range of missiles because of political restrictions. Many western experts have even agreed that Pakistan is ahead of India.
Even Indian media had shown this in one of their reports which is on youtube.

Accept it with a pinch of salt mate.

But Pakistn needs to work more on Electrical and Electronics field in which we are week in terms of Military as well as Commercial purpose....

But buddy let the Indians understand one thing that at present and in coming time as they should be worried about Chinese ones which will going to deployed and would be possibily launched without Western Pressure.

First of all India has tested a subsonic CM . Although the first test was a failure , the missile travelled half its range before it was terminated .

I have already admitted pakistan is ahead of India in subsonic cruise missile technology . But IMHO , you will not be able to maintain that superiority for more than a decade.

The only area of missile technology where you are ahead of India is subsonic CM field . In all other fields , India is miles ahead of you . Comparing BM ,SAM , ABM , supersonic CM , etc will give you a fair idea about that .

As for Western analyst and Indian news media , take them with a bucket full of salt .

supersonic CM

The technology of Brahmos isn't Indian , it is just a missile based on an existing Soviet era missile , hence you cant purchase something and declare yourself ahead in that field . India's financial contribution in the joint venture is 50.5% but technological contribution from what I have read , is negligible . You are free to prove me wrong here . Second , it looks but absurd that you are ahead in the supersonic regime of cruise missile but fall behind in the subsonic one .

How is that absurd . Both are completely different type of missiles .

As for India's contribution in brahmos , the computer and the guidance system have been designed by India whereas Russia has provided the propulsion system.

PJ-10 BrahMos

Agreed, but ater creating the missile and then getting the full technology of it makes us what?, Now you want to compare Brahmos with Nirbhay then its apples to oranges as they operate on different terms.

I would like to tell you that this ' complete transfer of technology ' for a military equipment is well the most misused term on the whole forum , from what I have noted . Because , usually , it is not even the TOT for half of the components of the system/equipment/gear .

That would be true only if we can know how much technology transfer of what components , the Indians are getting . Now you design the guidance systems , barring that , what else have the Russians agreed to provide TOT for ? @Dillinger If you would like to tell us , too lazy to search this thing myself :D

yes,you are true about the bolded part, the airframe and propulsion are russian, but then what is origin of turbofan used in Babur??
What we have is a subsonic one under testing, supersonic long range one under development-we have all the building blocks including ramjets and 2 active scramjet program

Really???Show me a Pakistani made
ICBM
SLBM
Quasi Ballistic Missile
ABM
SAM
a ramjet/Scramjet Engine

OK let me make it easy for you ,show me a Pakistani Launched satellite

Mate,You cannot overlook India's contribution read kurup 's post #116,

And then yes,I would have to say We are ahead in supersonic missile technology,We already have Brahmos 1 (OK,ramjet and airframe are not ours)but Brahmos 2 is being developed by Indian owned BATL,We already have a Ramjet powered Long Range supersonic cruise missile program(test in 2014,probabily),we already have ramjet engines (remember Akash SAM)and an Indian scramjet engine programe is being undertaken by DRDO(it is a hypersonic prototype, just like X-51 wave rider and first test will be on 2014)
