This thread is primed to become a fun one. I have my metaphorical popcorns ready.

I have only watched the trailer and i can already see the hype around it. However, being a punjabi myself, I felt disappointed after watching the trailer. At least they should have hired people who could speak proper punjabi. Mahira raped the punjabi language and was worst among the lot when it comes to dialogs delivery in Punjabi. Even if they wanted to go with Mahira, one thing is obvious - they didn't make her practice much to come up with better punjabi accent.

since when are they Punjabis?
😲It's a status given to some clans in the middle ages, like knighthood but for the whole clans - bhatti, janjua, katal etc

Films are never just films, behind the seamless onscreen storytelling is a team of people working really hard to get it right. Director Bilal Lashari is ready to send off his dream project after a decade-long journey. He penned a letter to his film, saying his goodbyes. The Legend of Maula Jatt is ready to go out into the world and he’s ready to let it.

He shared a picture of him silhouetted against the light at the premiere on Thursday. Addressing his dear film he wrote, “An impossible dream, that is who you were a decade ago. Today you are for real, no more a figment of my imagination or a project of a dreamer. What a journey it has been! How do I describe you? My mentor, my dearest friend, the one who brought to me binding friendships, a dream team and a lifetime of stories that will outlive life itself?”

After expressing how the film changed his life, he talked about moving on to the next dream. “But every storyteller, every dreamer has to part with the story told, the dream realized, so my friend today I give you to the audience of the world. You belong to them now so live your life among them,” he wrote. “Tonight it’s finally time for me to let you go. And you have to let me go to dream again an untold story of another realm.”

A reboot of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt, the film is a re-telling the story of the rivalry between Maula Jatt and Noori Natt and is set to release in cinemas on October 13.

The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Nayyer Ejaz, Shafqat Cheema, Raheela Agha, Zia Khan and Saima Baloch. The Punjabi film is being produced by Ammara Hikmat’s Encyclomedia and Lashari Films. The distribution will be done by Nadeem Mandviwalla under Mandviwalla Entertainment.

The big-budget film has faced several delays and is finally being released after production was begun in 2017.

Bilal Lashari's long-awaited star-studded magnum opus The Legend of Maula Jatt held its premiere night on Wednesday in Lahore and it is fair to say that it was as grand as the film is touted to be.

From Mahira Khan's sequinned co-ord set in a bright metallic pink to Fawad Khan twinning with his wife Sadaf Fawad Khan to Humaima Malick ditching her villainous look for an angelic white and Faris Shafi's sultry translucent fusion ensemble, each and every cast member came in their graceful real life avatars for they already outshone themselves in the magnum opus.

Apart from the Jatts and their rivals, the premiere was attended by many big names in the industry, including the likes of Meesha Shafi, Kubra Khan, Shaan Shahid, Resham, Shafqat Cheema and Mikaal Zulfiqar, among others. Here’s a lowdown of who wore what to the premiere.

Mahira Khan

A very “nervous” Mukkho Jattni walked the red carpet in a glittery Faraz Manan ensemble. With everyone dressed in subtle prints in monochrome colours, Mahira stood out, grabbing all attention towards her, in an all pink outfit — and it wasn’t just any pink. Clad in a shimmery metallic pink from head to toe, Mahira’s outfit consisted of a boat neck top paired with a mermaid skirt with a slit on its side. The cherry on top, quite literally, was a knitted jacket of the same colour worn on the shoulders. The Raees star posed in a pink pout with her hair up in a half pony, showing off her cute gold hoops.

Sadaf and Fawad Khan

Maula Jatt brought the love of his life to his grand comeback to the big screens. Keeping Sadaf close throughout the night, the duo was all smiles at the event. Staying true to his elegant personality, Fawad wore a dark green kurta with a waist coat of the same colour while Sadaf looked gorgeous in a plain satin silk black gown next to him. The designer paired her stunning black dress with dangling silver jewellery.

The Shafi siblings

It’s not a Shafi family entrance if it doesn’t bring a shovel of quirkiness with it. Meesha came to support his brother’s big screen acting debut, and like a true fan, she also wore the Maula Jatt pin on her clothes. Standing out in their chunky statement glasses throughout the night, the Shafi siblings brought all the Punjabi glam to the night. Meesha stood out in her classic colourful banarsi sari wrapped over a tank top, while Faris was clad in an all-black layered outfit with translucent sleeves and a vest over wide legged bottoms. Meesha’s holographic sandals were a hit!

Humaima Malick and Gohar Rasheed

Clad in a cream white princess gown with bronze embroidered detailing on its ends, Humaima looked regal in the long ensemble that had ruffled feathers at its end. She wore her hair down in beautiful curls on one side with her pearl earrings taking the outfit up a notch. Gohar, on the other hand, looked dapper in a black suit with printed subtle stripes of white. Completing the nerdy handsome hunk look, he wore simple black sunnies. The makers Bilal Lashari and Ammara Hikmat also dazzled in their all black outfits.

@Maula Jatt

I'm at the theaters bout to watch this shit in like 5 minutes. God damn its like 2.5 hours long. Let's hope this shit ain't azz.
I wanted to watch it like this Friday but I'll have to postpone it by a week now cause my schedule pilled up, I hope it stays on the theater till next Friday, Saturday atleast

I really wanna watch it on the big screen

Anyone living in the land of the five rivers and identify with it's culture, language, traditions is a punjabi

But proper Punjabis are Jutts, Arain, gujjar, Rajput and Khatri/Sheikh

Rest can choose to identify themselves as punjabi but among the proper/ mentioned cammunities we'll identify them as Pathan, Urdu speaking, Baloch or Kashmiri
This rètarded BKN is trying to divide Punjab and Punjabis

Arain/Gujjars/Khatri/Awan etc are considered tribes and cluster together closely in genetics

Even Pashtuns have tribes that are not genetically identical but cluster by tribe, yet considered one ethnicity.

This movie is an insult to Punjabis. Lashari should go **** himself for even comparing this to the original.

This movie is like pirates of the Caribbean and whoever wrote the dialogs is a chuttiya.

I'm almost ready to walk out
