Iran's President abandons CNN interview after Amanpour declines head scarf demand

"At the very end, they come up with this, "it's a religious month of mourning and we need you to wear a headscarf"."

"It is not a requirement and it was lobbed at us at the very last minute. And very unfortunately they decided to pull, you know, pull the interview."

"They told us that we had the interview. It was very hard to get the interview, there's no doubt about that, and a lot of work went into it."

Hahahahaha.

Ra'isi duset darim! Ra'isi duset darim!

It can evolve towards increased conservatism for instance. This said, I was referring to Iranian-Islamic culture at the present time. Also, remarkably, certain traits of culture in Iran turn out to have remained quite invariable since times immemorial. It has something to do with natural law and anthropological constants, which unites people of every obedience, from Mithraists to Zoroastrians, Moslems, up to agnostics and atheists. Hence why the masonic lodge must resort to social engineering and collective mind control techniques in order to uproot human nature.

conservatism implies no or little change. That would imply Myanmar or North Korea. The problem is that powers in charge (most countries including USA) want change on their own terms. The masses never agree to what the leaders want. A good example is that Republican leadership wants a ban or severe limits on abortion. But registered Republican voters would have none of those government actions. See a recent referendum in Kansas.

Some of what is regarded as "natural law" in the past are not acceptable anymore. Slavery is a good example.

In the past Persia/Iran was isolated from the outside world. Due to technological changes it is hard to isolate yourself from the outside world. The social conservatism of the Iranian ruling elite is in stark contrast to the attitudes of the Iranian diaspora (including recent arrivals). That indicates differences in what different people in society want. There is no clean correct or wrong here. I think gradual change is a good idea given your past experiences.

This is a power play between the government and its opponents. It is hard for Iranian government to argue Christiane Amanpour is anti-Iranian. She is born to Iranian father.

It is a complicated issue. When you are in your own house, you can do whatever shit you like but when in society, you have to obey the social laws.

Everyone and every society respects privacy of citizens. But social laws differs from one to an other.
Interview was in NY

If liberalism is dominant, then a move towards conservative norms would still represent a change.

Nor from the cultural soft war waged by the powers to be. But some are resilient.

Except that those who emigrate, precisely tend to be from the minority of westernized folk who used to spend their time watching Persian-language satellite channels set up by Iran's enemies, and surfing subversive internet content. Can't consider these as representative of the average person in Iran.

Yeah well, she's working for a hostile broadcaster that is part of the streamlined mainstream media toeing the line of Iran's existential enemies.

It is possible to argue the emigres are westernized. The problem with the argument is that Westernized attitudes cuts across multiple generations. Given the difficulties in getting Western visa it has to be a remarkable coincidence that Western diplomatic missions select the Westernized Iranians. I could not achieve that kind of selection. FYI Iran and Iranians are still considered a security risk by Western states.

I meant it's the more western-leaning citizens who opt to emigrate in the first place. Safe to say some 90% of Iranians who apply for immigration in another country fall into this category.

If anything Iranian pres must be smiling it was that easy
Own beliefs? So if a reporter/interviewer asked a woman to remove their hijab would you would argue that she should?

The Fed has no choice but to raise the interest rate. If you are in America you will understand. The impact on the rest of the world is something I wish the Biden administration pays some attention to. I doubt Sleepy Joe has the energy to address that.

Europeans have no choice but to sanction Russia. If Ukraine falls they are next. They are going to stop the Russian army in Ukraine.

I just think like this, the reason they increase interest rate is to suck the money circulation so that less demand means it will be hard for businesses to raise the price of their products and services thus less inflation.

But this theory is made in the context where the money is circulated on the country while USD is different, USD is every where and when you raise the interest then USD invested and stored in developing countries will come back to USA and put in USA financial system. The policy is not going to be effective and more over the inflation we face Today is due to problem in supply side, not demand side.

My solution in this matter is different with The Fed, if USA wants to decrease the inflation, USA needs to do it in long term and gradually. The problem is not on the interest rate, but The Fed printing money policy. Just stop printing USD (quantitative easing) and it should be done gradually. Basically it is what they want to do before Russia attacked Ukraine.

Everyone has a right to choose.
No one has a right to tell anyone what to wear, whether in America, Iran or anywhere else.
These Muslim fundamentalists and their regimes along with all despotic dictatorships are on the wrong side of history.
Their collapse is inevitable.
Individual freedom is the only way forward.

There is a video of Amanpour visiting her relatives house in Iran a few years ago, she is seen hystrically removing the hijab from one of her relative's head by her own hands with such an ego as if the hijab was really bothering her and she was the Captain America liberating oppressed Iranians

Well the Fed would like to do it gradually. but they have no choice in this regard
