PTI Azaadi March 2022: Updates and Discussion

A interesting case of unintended consequence can be seen to have played out and the irony of it is not lost. Nawaz Sharif ever since 1980s had a penchant for building motorways and expressways. The result is 40 years later most of Pakistan now has web of motorways/expressways with Islamabad being a major hub. There is almost a spoke of motorways fanning out from Islamabad to South KPK, Central KPK, North KPK, South Punjab, Central Punjan and of course Azad Kashmir/Gilgit Baltistan.

This meant that come Azaadi March all these regions which once were remote are now literally only 2/3 hours drive from Islamabad and this includes tribal areas. Thus PTI was able tro mobilise entire 'lashkars' almost in replay of Kashmir 1947. Thus Nawaz in a way helped Imran Khan to mobilise his supporters in pincer move on Islamabad.

As a history buff I could not help but watch in delight how the Azaadi March moved east along the M1 motorway with IK stood atop the truck with miles long convoy behind him in a replay of what has happened over milenia in history. From Scythians, to Alexanders Greeks, to Moghuls etc this is the exact route they came.

Adjacent to Attock there is a cutting that the motorway goes through, few miles east of Indus River bridge. This had been blocked off with Punjab police taking up the high ground on both sides. But the modern Ghaznavids launched a pre-emptive attack on both high points and captured the 'pass' thus securing the motorway pass for the cavalcade to pass through.

This was the point when Sanaullah must have shat in his pants and called Bajwa 'Islamabad has fallen' please help. While all this was going on another convoy led by Gandapur with tribals was heading up north along the recently opened M14 from Mianwali. This meant even if the bridge over Jhelum could be held Islamabad had been breached from west and south west.

From what I am hearing, MBS is acting as a guarantor for the election. Hence the recent hurried visit to KSA. And why IK is confident about the dharna withdrawal. With the no-go from IMF, everyone understands the country's economy cannot stand still.

That is the rumor mill going on, but I have heard otherwise.

Let's see if this whatsapp gossip is true or not, but I am inclined to believe otherwise.

@RescueRanger, thoughts?

Petrol price raised by Rs 30. This was unexpected. I was thinking this will be done by caretaker govt. Does it mean PDM wishes to stay?

Doubt it, will be very surprised if true.

Massive defeat and massive loss to IK PR. IK won’t be able to bounce back from this. As far as elections are concerned every political party wants early elections. There is no denying in that.
Whatever helps you sleep better, many such victories for your PLM-N

Is this true? Have they really done this to an ex-Federal Minister.

Sir, what information is available, according to that it is true. The following for your own assessment:

Watch @08:40 onwards - The toughest line of defense of PML-N and the planning of PTI to overrun that defense, here Mr. Umer Ayub was badly beaten by police while attacking police contingent on the bridge:

This is what was said last night, last minute calls to 1-800-dialdaddy. However the debacle on voting rights for overseas Pakistanis is a real slap in the face of 9million Pakistanis!

My unbiased 2 cents,

  • On basis of mission objective this was a failure, it did not achieved any of the objectives, gave opponents time to rethink and re-strategies rather than putting them against the wall with pressure
  • It also defined that Khan still need establishment, if not he would never had backed down with this dharna
  • On the other hand, it showed that PMLN will not hesitate for a second to bring jazbati awam against LEAs and also PMLN got a wakeup call that even without establishment PTI can bring out people in street (here quantity does not matter, even few thousands matter)
  • Only handful of PTI leaders actually were trying to bring people on the road but leaders like SMQ, Asad Umar, Dr Shahbaz etc decided to take a ride on the truck rather than being in their constituencies bringing out people for the cause, maybe there was some logic behind this? Dr SG is IKs COS i believe i guess that's why?
  • The star of this whole episode in my opinion was Dr Yasmeen Rashid
  • A lot of calculations were done on previous dharna when they had support of establishment, one critical factor ignored was that at that time interior minister was Ch Nisar and this time was Rana Sanaullah both were/are poles apart
  • It was NOT a "pur amaan" event at all, there were people killed, cars destroyed, buildings stoned, people from both the sides were/are responsible for this
