TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

I have one question. Since TEI is 49% owned by general electrics, can they ever get a peak into designs or engine parts of tfx if TEI was to develop any?

GE has no jurisdiction in the context of property rights. The reason is only commercial partnership, TEI's orders and earnings are against %90 USA.

They are financing our defence industry as of now, we are not an economic juggernaut who can finance all of these fancy projects. We provide them a stable defence industry ecosystem in case they get sanctioned and provide them with boots on the ground if needed, and in return they make the wheels spin. It is all messed up but not that hard to understand why the government acts that way.

Why would anyone do that? Making our defence industry dependent on some foreign country(which is qatar in this case).
We all know its not a Turkey-Qatar friendship. Its Erdogan- Al-Thani friendship. So when Erdogan gone, this friendship will likely be broken.

What is the alternative? To have a defence industry like that of Egypt?

Deep Turkey-Qatar cooperation allows Turkey to pursue expensive R&D projects. As somebody mentioned, Turkey is not an economic giant but still have defence projects in the league of very wealthy countries (France, UK, Germany etc.)

I think the Turkish-Qatari relations will remain positive even after Tayyip. You don't invite the forces of another country just because you like one politician. And many new friendships will start right there too. In fact there would be more doors opening, than closing.

I do thing that Kale should become the company who will develop the jet engine for TFX. And the development of TFX engine should only be started after Kale is successful to replace SOM missile current engine with their home grown jet engine. Any difficult goal should be reached in step by step basis.
Kale would be better candidate, If They were the financial juggernaut with the money/resources to invest into R&D for turbojet/turbofan engine. They invested 20m$ and They got 20m$ for the engine they developed. This strained their financial capability hard. Investing 1-2b$ over a decade or 2 is way above their financial level even with the high government support. On the other hand, Both TEI and BMC might be able to invest into 1-2b$ over a decade with high government support and Guarantees. And If I was the chairman on those companies I might have disagree with such huge Risk. Since that would mean risk of a life time.

El Sani family have been trustworthy since the Ottoman times....

There is this saying, "choosing a fighter jet is choosing the pact you are in" :-) 5G is very similar to that as the cities get smarter, everything will be connected to a mainframe and he who controls the network would control the entire infrastructure of the country, hence why Americans are very keen for an Atlantic 5G network.

Wouldn’t we be controlling the 5G network ? It’s pretty crazy to allow a foreign country control your network.

American concerns regarding Huawei's 5G hardware is that there might be backdoors that would let Chinese access to such systems.

Is the design for the TFX finalized?

I know that we all want this project to be completed as soon as possible, but we should be open to changes in wing design. According to many sources the design of the YF-23 was better than the YF-22 (F-22) and offered better performance.

This is a massive project for us so we should get it right the first time.

I think that’s why we’ve ordered those engines. So we can build the plane and test them out and adjust the design accordingly. I think it’s a viable solution since we’re trying to build a mmu, and er don’t have enough experience/knowhow. Plus it’s a good idea because it motivates the involved engineers to work harder and better. It’s not only a drawingboard project anymore so to speak. This bird is gonna fly.

Is it easy to replace an another engine of a fighter jet ? Turkish jet engine might be identical to f110.

Not it is not easy, I guess that's why we choose the F110 engines, because we have experience on it, our engineers know the engine last but most importantly our domestic engine will have lots of similarities with it. As we can remember that we heard two engine options for HÜRJET. TA had to repeat wind tunnel testing and minor design changes for both engines due to their differences.
