Pakistan Navy test fires new Harba cruise missile from PNS Himmat Pakistan

This should be interesting with the Type 054A/CSOC 4,000-ton frigate. Either one has an OTHR with passive and active scanning of 400-500 km and 280 km, respectively. Besides radar, is SATNAV doable as well? For example, you have a drone, aircraft or another ship pick-up an enemy ship, and then radio the launch ship the target's location? The Harba is sent to the general vicinity, and when close enough, the active-seeker kicks-in?

But why was it tested from PNS Himmat out of all the ships? Its a small missile boat, does it even have a radar? Putting Baburs on such a small ship seems strange.

Also don't you think Babur is too slow to be a capable anti-ship missile? It can be easily countered. What do you think is the logic of the PN for deploying Babur in an anti-ship role?

Pns himmat is not only small is also stealth... missile is touted of range in excess of 700 km.... it's impossible to detect small stealth boat at that distance..

Stealth sea skimming cruise missiles are very very difficult to counter.... especially if u are unaware that they have been launched at you in first place ...

Whole world including USA uses sub sonic cms for that reason....

Distributed lethality. It's the idea of using high-speed and low-cost platforms to deploy cruise missiles against land targets and ships. This way, your long-range attack capabilities aren't concentrated in a few high-cost ships, but can be deployed from fast attack crafts, corvettes and - maybe one day - unmanned boats. Not only can you sustain more losses, but you can get more missiles at-sea (as small and large ships alike have limited armament capacity).

The guidance support will be proved by AEW&C, another ship and/or land-based radar.

Yes, the Babur/Harba is subsonic, but to compensate for it work has apparently been done to reduce the RCS. I think a supersonic cruising ASCM will have to be acquired one day, even though the Pakistan Navy hasn't given such indication. I do remember the days when folks wondered why a long-range ASCM wasn't being built using the Babur, so who knows, buying the CM-302 or CX-1 off-the-shelf is one day on the cards.

Didn't we showcase JF-17 with CM-400AKG at an airshow several years ago? Maybe we have inducted the missile without announcing it.
Even if that was inducted, it's different from a supersonic-cruising missile. The CM-400AKG - while it can attain supersonic (or even hypersonic) speed - it operates more like a small ballistic missile. It's powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor (note: this isn't confirmed, I'm using this source since it can read Chinese sources). This gets you speed and impact, but it doesn't have the maneuvering and terrain-hugging/sea-skimming profile of a cruise missile, which is key for avoiding enemy air defences.

Are you sure it's the air intake?
Look all over the missile. It's full of imperfections.
High speed at low frame.

The only frames worth analysing are the ones immediately after the launch.

I've joked about you relying too much on pixels, but maybe looking for white pixels near the air intake area may help.
Are you missiles expert kid :enjoy:and kindly explain what the imperfection you see in HARBA

???
Are you this dumb?
I'm talking about the imperfections due to the video limitations.
You can't make out an intake from that angle.
Its intake was not deployed in boosting stage but deployed in later cruising stage
and i am asking again what imperfection do you see in the video , are you talking about intake may be that camera angle that shows intake on the weird placeo_O

Nothing, except for the paint.

Read it again shedding your jingo suit.
And your country is peaceful , your country is also a jingo and war monger:blah:

You've zero clue what's going on, do you!
He hypothesized that its intake is similar to that of Nirbhay. Nirbhay has a submerged intake.
I doubted it since frame rates and resolution from that angle isn't enough to come to that conclusion.

He is just assuming and his opinion worth nothing, all senior members on this thread saying that its version of babur which has retractable air intake

Congratulation to pakistan but it is not at all any punch to to your main enemy India.
But far more better punch than your BRAHMOUSE;)

Nice capability.

Good to see PN making progress.

Those protruding missile launchers are a huge RCS enhancer, bro.

This is stealthy approach but this design is possible on a huge vessel:

USN Phalanx CIWS and ESSM can defeat even sea-skimming cruise missiles and targets.

However, these kind of intercepts are not publicized much. Bad for business. ;)
