Zardari proposes withdrawal of troops from Siachen

Zardari is a Chinese Parrot.
Without understanding Chinese Intention for this region India will never make any deal with Pakistan. Pakistan is already out of the equation since we hold area up to Indira point. Though Pakistan is capable to engage Indian army in tactical skirmishes but abandoning this are will be a logistical blunder since China and Pakistan have their plans.

Pakistan may pretend innocent here typically and may rant day and night to blame that Indian military is controlling India's political decision making but more China will try to poke its nose in *** more India will be determined to guard its white frontier well.

and i thought so too..he had been visiting China too frequently. :china:

And for ur convinience:

The army has the dominant say in the Siachen dispute. The Indian army's position is that there should be no asymmetrical redeployment of troops.

There was other news item that came some time back where the Army Chief publicly said that IA will not vacate Siachen and the political leaders accepted it by saying that Army's concerns were "primary" in the Siachen issue.

The armed forces, which faced the brunt of enemy fire from higher positions during the Kargil intrusion in 1999 in central Kashmir, want to make their apprehensions about Siachen clear.

In a rare instance of a senior army official commenting on an issue being handled at the diplomatic level, Western Air Command Chief A K Singh that India and Pakistan need to demarcate boundaries before making any decision on demilitarizing the Siachen Glacier. The Western Air Command provides logistical support to the army in maintaining more than 4,000 troops on the glacier, where altitudes range between 4,500 and 7,500 meters.

"I personally feel that we need to demarcate the area so that tomorrow no counter-claims are made," Singh said. Pakistan has repeatedly rejected such a request, saying that agreeing to it would be the same as accepting India's control over the area.

Singh's comments follow a top Indian army official's statement at Siachen in which he ruled out any compromise with Pakistan over troop withdrawal from the glacier. The officer said the glacier is of strategic and diplomatic significance to India and that the two sides would have to mark current troop positions formally before any withdrawal could be considered.

this would be helpful for both countries first of all we will have the snow caps for a little longer which means water for a longer period of time. Less expenditure which would equal to more money for other thing such as education ecnomy and public health. I am not pro Zardari but this could help. I am confident this would actually aid in increasing peace in the region.
