The name is pronounced A-Keel. Apparently mere khandaan main kisi ne bohot zyada English seekhli thi. You know how Q is always followed by U in all English words. So they decided to make it Aquil, not Aqeel. You may ask why use Q at all? Q was used because apparently puranay zamanay main Q represented more of a choti Kaaf sound and K represented the bari Kaaf.

Mystery solved.
