Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanullah chided retired army general and defence analyst, Lt. General (r) Amjad Shoaib calling him from lot ‘responsible for martial laws and biggest prowlers’.

During a talk show on private news channel, Rana Sanaullah lashed at ex-army man stating that likes of General Shoaib easily take away plots worth of millions of rupees and pockets pension worth of Rs 0.3million to Rs 0.4million.

“These people don’t hold popularity among masses and could not be elected even a counselor in a constituency,” said the provincial law minister.

Accountability is unheard when it comes to Pakistan army. I mean most of them are involved in land grabbing, corruptions and whatnot, yet they get away all the times.

Whereas for democracy, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was sentenced to death and so did Nawaz Sharif until KSA came to the rescue. The point is that the accountability exists for the democracy but not for the Pakistan army.

Precisely why people lost faith in the main establishment many times in the past, and even now, General Raheel played active role securing the exit-strategy with Nawaz Sharif for Musharraf when he came back to Pakistan despite warned not to.

That is why i am not in favor of the military takeover. What is the point of the military takeover if they are not going to be accounted? Whenever the main establishment talks about accountability, it makes mockery of the justice system considering that selective accountability has been known to create problems rather than solving some.

During Zardari rule, PPP was recorded with the massive corruption that didn't seem bother to Imran Khan and General Kiyani, yet when it came to PMLN, the selective accountability enters. That is why this kind of tactical can get on the nerve of Punjab who will be made to convince that it is rather conspiracy than accountability.

I am in favor of accountability but it has to be for all; not selective. Ironically, if we exercise complete accountability, no one will be spared and that includes the main establishment and PTI as well.

Military, judiciary, politicians, media, beaurocrats etc all must be investigated and punished for any corrupt activity.

Army should focus on defense only and not politics.

There should be complete ban on no defense related activities of army like fertilizer, dha societies and other commercial ventures.

If army is sincere than it should spend on defense and technology research and development and earn money like lock heed martin etc not like selling plots, cement etc
