Xi Jinping’s Reform Express Gathers Steam

Xi Jinping has done a lot of good to China, may the reforms continue to be successful.
The key word here is "done", not "promised" or "talked about". I like this style. Whether he will surpass Deng remains to be seen.

The good news is, unlike 30 years ago, China no longer relies on 1 person to make all the right decisions anymore. Xi, his 6 other colleges in the top leadership circle plus the numerous consultants are leading the country by committee. So the chances of making huge mistakes like Mao did is near nil. Ten years later, all of them will step down and be replaced by the next generation leaders who again will be selected by merit. The new leaders will lead the country based on the the experience of their predecessors. This is cycle will go on until China is ready for a complete open political system which may never been the western style democracy, but something that produces genuinely smart leaders (as opposed to talkers and actors) and is accepted by the people.

Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew describes Xi - “I would put him in the Nelson Mandela’s class of persons. A person with enormous emotional stability who does not allow his personal misfortunes or sufferings affect his judgment. In other words, he is impressive,”. Enough said.
Mandela was labelled as a terrorist by the US in 1965. Mandela cannot be compared with Xi. In fact if you ever lived in S. Africa, it was better for most people including blacks under apartheid.

Lee was describing Xi's emotion aptitude, a strenght in resolute focus in attaining his goal despite any misgivings towards him, something which Mandela also possess regardless what the west labelled him as.
