Xi hails China, Pakistan as 'iron brothers'

I think, Pakistan has nothing meaningful to offer to Russia except the fabled warm waters which the Russians show no interest in.

For the past two decades, Russia has viewed Pakistan with the same view it has for Afghanistan which is that Pakistan doesn't become a Western sponsored trouble maker in Central Asia at some point in future.

From Peter I to the Soviet Union, Russians have always wanted to obtain a warm water port in the Indian Ocean. Because:
1, it can affect the Middle East and the pricing power of oil, together with the direction of the Black Sea&the Caucasus.
2, It can control the passage from the Middle East to the Pacific Ocean and seize sea power. Now Russia influences the Indian Ocean by supporting Iran and India, but Pakistan obviously has more chips.

Russia can't really influence anymore India as the Indians see themselves above the Russians nowadays in geopolitics terms and also the Russians can't really offer anything to India anymore because of China they are sort of out of that realm maybe Iran could be a different scenario but it will be a weak ally to bank on in the long term as it doesn't have many regional allies Iran. Russia will have hard time surviving without Sino-Pak because they face other strong foes in the East Europe which is NATO hence they will have to balance themselves by going that direction to minimize their western flank threat

If India can provide it's naval facilities to the US, don't you think it can do the same for it's time tested ally Russia, too?

What if Pakistan allows Russia to take a stake in Gwadar Port? What if Pakistan allows Russia to use CEPC and link Afghanistan through Khyber Pass?

How can India provide better conditions than this?

India's core ally has always been Russia, not USA. Any country with a brain knows that the USA will never be a reliable ally.

Pakistan has obtained the HQ9P. Obviously, they will be allowed to enter China's sensor networks when necessary.
Yes that's what I think. I believe PA/PAF has long being working closely on programs like early warning, CM guidance (Barbur launched from S20P), etc., with PLASSF (PLA Strategic Support Force) which administers electronic warfare, space warfare and web warfare. With access to PLA sensor network on ground and in orbits, PA/PAF should've been able to "see" what's flying towards Pak airspace for years, addition of HQ-9P is more like having a bullet to shoot things down. If PA/PAF will increase counter-strike capability, other than missiles/jets, air-based senors should come as a package, e.g. WZ-7 (HALE), WZ-8 (supersonic recon drone at near-space altitude).

Those are worthless without a full sensor suite.
Just like the super long ranged ballistic anti-ship missiles.

china has an army of drones, satellites, GPS system for that purpose. but others do not, only acquiring the expensive missiles but then using them at the minimum range is a waste of money.

allowing others full access to the chinese sensor network is an enormous security risk for china and in fact can drag china into a war it does not wish to join and had no plans to join.

so until other nations put in their own network of sensors i doubt any of the long range weapons, especially hypersonics will be exported.
Informative response. Learned something from you - :-)

I think China will be calling the shots on Gwadar Port's use. At the same time, I can't see Afghanistan being linked to CPEC in near future. It's too hostile, unstable and under-developed.

On top of the that, Russia already has direct links to the Middle East:
  • Naval assets in the Caspian Sea (Northern Iran).
  • Access to Iranian Naval Ports (If needed).
  • A permanent naval base in Syria.
I think the belief that Russia desperately needs Pakistani warm waters is far fetched. It was Pakistani tyrant General Zia-ul-Haq, who convinced the US to help Pakistan to prevent the USSR from grabbing Pakistani warm waters after the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. It was only so the tyrant could prolong his rule.

India's core ally has always been Russia.

Core ally I wouldn't really say that bro and politics always changes and just look at where Russia is today India have nothing to offer them they don't even have access land-link to Eurasia can't really benefit Russia the least. Russia is looking at Sino-Pak to balance the signficiant NATO threat it is facing on the western flank this is truly where they are today. Remember how ones allies China and Russia became enemies during the cold war etc etc politics is constantly moving object and it all comes down to interests and also these countries are far away from each other and the further away the waeker ties hence imo they are pursuing different politics and don't see the world the same way and moving two wide directions

AFG has already been invited by Pakistan to join the CPEC and also Zia-Ul-Haq didn't do that to gain popularity or prolong himsef it was just a conflict that came around he didn't seek it but it came to him. Zia-Ul-Haq still remains the best leader in Pakistan's history. 15 countries were liberated because of that even Ukraine became independent because of that, you can add Georgia etc etc. But this is not what makes Zia-Ul-Haq great but it was his patriotism and he changed the history of Pakistan forever and Pakistan still stands on today the fundation he build

These two countries are of course your friends, but not "only". You're too negative.

Yes, but China can help Pakistan, by improving Pakistan's economy.

Please buy Pakistani textile goods.

Pakistan desperately needs to improve its economy.

We just need new hypersonic missiles from our Chinese friends now. Hope Chinese can provide all necessary assistance in this field.

TUBITAK is working on hypersonic missiles Pakistan could make an exchange with Turkey under the table to gain a space glide hypersonic missiles for making them come under nuclear umbrella or stationing them there for assurance..

None sense. Russia is never to be trusted as an ally neither is the IEA (unless they rein in TTP/BLA and accept durand line).

We have seen how Russians have treated their so called "muslim allies" ie Iran, Iraq, Syria and the situation they are in today. Russians are even more unreliable than the west.

Russia maybe considered neautral to us. At best maybe a friend. But def not an ALLY.

Best to make Russia a business partner. Russian trade (especially their industries and farms located in Siberia) with East Africa through China or Central Asia and down to Karachi or Gwadar is the best way to achieve that.

An efficient and competitively priced rail based freight service should make the Russians “consistently neutral” when it comes to Pakistan.

I wouldn't mind that

Would be fantastic to Huawei open Operation in Pakistan

Economy is good and important but honestly i wouldn't mind having somewhat average economy but military power is far important and critical. Pakistan is destined for epic wars.. We will come to our Destiny prepared this is how you conquer your destiny and dreams..

I would rather host chinese engineers than Huawei this is just my personal preference..
