We just learnt that the protest is fuelled by vested interest. An important stakeholder turns out to be the Big Alcohol Producers. Modus Operandi :

Govt agency buys the wheat at MSP. They get rotten at FCI Godowns and are sold at garbage price to the alcohol producers. Now interesting bit. The alcohol producer are the people who have caotured these mandi. They procure at Mandi at MSP for govt agencies and sell to govt agencies.

The alcohol is keeping these farmers picinic in NCR warm and fun. They anyway do not work in the fields .

If today, Punjab is known as the ‘Breadbasket of India’ then the entire credit goes to the hardworking and zealous people of Punjab who turn every odd into their favor like a champion. Their hard work took the state to a point where a major chunk of the Indian population has become dependent on Punjab for its food grain needs. However this title of ‘India’s Bread Basket’ is a destination reached after lots of ups and downs.

The journey of this state which suffered the havoc of partition but bounced back firmly is a definite case study for the development model researchers. Till the late 50s, Punjab was just like any other Indian state, facing severe problems on the socio-economic front.

The tables started turning in favor of the state though, as new technologies, methods, innovations, and techniques appeared on the site. The Indian agricultural market became a host for big-ticket changes such as the introduction of HYV seeds, modern irrigation equipment, and fertilizers, etc. Like always, Punjab remained at the forefront in embracing these changes whereas other states couldn’t get along with this change like Punjab.

Can someone summarise the issue please? Why are these farmers protesting?

they want govt should declare every year minimum support price for their produce , simultaneously they want to get assurance from govt that their should be a law which gives punishment to people who purchase grains below minimum support price .
how can govt force common people to purchase on price fixed by govt ?

Why will you pay @ bad wheat when you can get same wheat classified as rotten and purchase them @ rotten rate.

People who consume alcohol, they would not know if the alcohol was made from good wheat which was rotten as per process or bad rotten wheat.

This is such a stupid protest.

Protest is linked with the Regional & Global Situation.

Earlier the law was that farmers cannot sell their produce to anyone other than appointed Mandi.

Regularisation of the Union of India - Markets is a Good Sign, which means proper supplies along the Frontlines. Hindustani Farmers will work more for Hindu Rashtra.

The middle man and politicians managing these Mandi are the one who are driving these protest. Gobt has now allowed the farmers to sell to anyone they want to.

Union of India - Provincial Government have placed a Good System. Union of India Establishment is all about Sarkar e Hindustan.

Lmao its not that simple Haryana and Punjabi farmers used to get MSP and they want MSP... thats what their demand is... because if farmers are allowed to sell to anyone in few years Big corps will create their monopoly

Union of India - Provincial Trade is being managed to keep up the Supplies for Indian Armed Forces.

Situation in Union of India - Northern Provinces & Eastern Provinces is somewhat different from Rest of Union of India. Pollution in River Ganga, River Hindu & River Brahmaputra are the reasons.
