Wu Bangguo: China will never have multiparty government

I don't actually follow Taiwan politics that much nowadays. But I think he is more competent than Chen and Lee. Definitely more moderate, but he cannot move too far from the party concensus.

Just curious, what do you think of Ma Ying-jeou?

He is not a separatist like his DPP counterpart, but rather he is dreaming to take over the Mainland China from CCP.

Therefore CCP won't allow KMT to set their party into Mainland even Taiwan starts to unify with Mainland China.

Single party democracy is fine as long the different camps within party can check each others. What need to uphold is the independence of agencies for anti-corruption and power abuse, judicial and law enforment, and also more power to the people to accept or oppose government actions through voting (this is PEOPLE's Republic of China after all).

voting the right person for the country is the key, the chinese system of giving votes to a selected knowlegeable few is way better than the west system of giving mass votes in which over half the voters dont have a clue what they are voting for. and for those remain who have some idea of wht they are voting sadly most of them are voting for self interests and not for the country.

And am willing to bet that EVERY Chinese member here considers himself to be a part of that 'selected' few, and if not, he is willing to do anything, by hook or by crook, to be admitted into that exclusive political club. Not one will be satisfied of his lot if he is considered to be inferior or too stupid to have the right to vote.

Why not? KMT can never win an election anyways, not with their track record. It is important for solving an 80 year old problem in Chinese politics.

Of course we have to show a united front to foreigners. Internal debate is fine but external debate should be strictly forbidden.

You crack me up. :D

And so do you Chinese boys. What you (not YOU) are talking about is nothing more than a return to the old communism where 'The Party' is that Platonic clique of philosophers-rulers who are supposed to be all-wise and benevolent and the people willingly submit to their judgments. You (not YOU) can put on how many coats of paint and lacquer to disguise it, but it is nothing more than a romantic wish for that benevolent dictatorship which has never happened.

Cool story.

How many people have real power in the US at a national level? Maybe 1000 including not only congress members but cabinet members and department heads.

How many people have real power in China at a national level? 5000 congress members alone.

Of those, all 5000 congress members in China are elected. Cabinet members and department heads in the US are appointed.

The US has 4x less population than China, but 10x less representative politicians.

:pop: Stupid megalomaniac.

Cool story.
Truth hurts, does it not?

...the chinese system of giving votes to a selected knowlegeable few is way better than the west system of giving mass votes in which over half the voters dont have a clue what they are voting for.

The man speaketh what he perceives to be the truth: That the majority of the Chinese citizenry is, in you boys' own words, too 'low IQ' to know that is better for them. The 'selected' and 'knowledgeable' club certainly does not include the Chinese members here...

The feeling is not so much pain, as that feeling you get when a alcoholic homeless person comes up you on the street to mumbling incoherently. At those time you wonder to yourself 'what is going on in their heads'. This is what I feel when talking to you.
