What's new

WS-13 is nearing completion

so I missed so much fun here!

Congrats and keep going, if depreciating China can ever make you strong.

There is Russian Assistance in LCA for evaluation of Kaveri in their High Altitude testing Lav, and Weapons. There is no Design Assitance. Most of the assistance is from France and USA; Ge-404,

Few more name ran through my mind quickly i.e. supply of F100 parts from PW and contribution of British comapanies e.g. BAe etc.

Let's get back to the topic shall we?

It is going to be interesting what will happen now that the Russian have allowed for the re-export of the RD-93 (with large number of units being purchased possibly), What will happen to the WS-13?

.
The RD-93 have only been permitted for use for The JF-17 in PAF Inventory.
For Pakistan to promote and market The JF-17, a sustitute is required, hence The WS-13.

After preliminary testings, The WS-13 seems to have turned out to be superior to The RD-93 (vis-a-vis JF-17).

True but the unit price and availability might make it easier to use the Rd-93. I am sure China would make sure any future procurements would not hit any snags before using the engine. For Russia it would mean that they would at least get a slice of the pie from JF-17 sales.

Apparently (according to Pshamim on Pakdefinfo) the engines are allowed to be re-exported to Asia and Africa

Actually that has already been reported by Pakistan Defence News and other news agencies a while back. ;)

It would all be interesting looking at if Azerbaijan really goes into the deal. JF-17 would be in a direct competition with Mig-29 (if they have not already been ordered). The Russians have let this deal go through on the basis that Chinese already have a strong position in certain countries where they can sell the aircraft.

Well according to the WIKI article Azerbajn is looking at both Mig 29's AND the JF-17 keeps everyone happy:lol: Besides if they do take the JF-17 as well they will probably have Russian engines.....

.
So after having WS13 the RD93 and its chapter is closed after 6 moths Russians will block the sale of RD93 only for the indians they will be happy tooo much and propeganda starts in the media ... While russians will provide complete technical documents of Rd93 to China and Pakistan including all the technical parts manufacturing details with some changes ...

Theses indians they never understand this ....

Well to be honest I am having a hard time understanding what you have written too.......

.
Let's say in future, if the engines needs to be over-hauled, repaired, serviced, Russian guidance would be required (for RD-93).

Since, manufacturing of The JF-17 will eventually take place on Pakistani soil, for any after sales service, technical assistance, other aspects, it would be beneficial for both, Pakistan and the consumer country to go for The WS-13, so that one integrated unit can take care of all demands.

well dont know if the wiki article has shot the point, according to the words given last year by one of the engineers in 611 institute (under AVIC1) that the precondition of RD-93 export is No JF-17 disturbance into Mig markets. and that's why they never worried about Pakistan.

.
For countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and other African nations, the JF-17 will have to be powered by WS-13.

It's beneficial for both China & Pakistan to complete the WS-13 as effectively as possible, sooner the better.
