What's new

Worlds toughest IFV

.
BTW,Can any one would like tell that why our army is not going for IFV though our army was the first to introduce mechanized infantry in sub continent,IFV has vital role in mechanized infantry then why yet it is not.
any plan or what are the options.

.
Its Nice but i doubt Pakistan will go for it, Maybe Pakistan Army Top Brass is not Concerned about this.

Jehangirhaider to answer I belive we are developing our own. I too have woundered but if you look at it we are coming out with our own developments like the new Saad MPV so I would not be superised if something is being developed to solve this problem.

Metalfalcon: I relize that we won't go for this exact vechile no matter how good it is. We would be stopped by India if we did in the first place and secondly if we develope something like it because were and still are having a lot of touble with our vechiles in SWAT those 4X4 toyota trucks are not ment to handle the punishment they are going through.

.
We wont go for this & why would we??

I was checking out some things on line when I ran into this. Its the BTR-T see how you guys like it.

MILITARY PARADE JANUARY-FEBRUARY

On the basis of T-54/55 chasis, I like Israel's Achzarit better. This is now superceeded by the new built Namer, using Merkava hull.

Also noteworthy is the Jordanian(Al) Temsah, which uses old Centurion hulls.

Ukraine has come up with an interesting T-72-based IFV, the BMT-72

India is reusing T-54/55 hulls in the Tarmur heavy APC and other vehicles, surely one of the ugliest I've seen (though that doesn't necessarily preclude it from being effective)

i know that this is a weird question but how would you get out of this thing.

Through the door!!!

To get in out

BTR-T Heavy Armored Personnel Carrier): over the top. Just hope the other side is not spraying lead in your direction. Basically an antiquated means of ingress and egress.

'Al Temsah' tracked, heavy, Infantry Combat Vehicle ( ICV ): through a rear door. Nice slope on front and read plates.

BMT-72 heavy infantry fighting vehicles (HIFV): over the top and hope the turret does not swing around as you are getting out else there will be a big gooey mess where you were.
Interesting concept but has some real issues.

Achzarit and Namer : back door.

Tarmour heavy APC: rear door.

But they all have big flat bottoms. So how IED resistant are they?

I don't really like it, carries only 5 troops and it's slow as hell. As pointed out above it doesn't seem to have been developed to tackle mines very well either, it represents a decade or two old combat tactics.

I am not impressed with the Indians in this case it is a box on tracks. This vechile is ment to take out snipers, and insurgents in building. That is what the armor is designed to stop. Look at any European and US IFV in Iraq non of them can defeat RPGs coming in from high areas. It is slow yes, but again do you really want to be going 50 to 100 miles or even Km an hour in the middle of a crouded city. This vechile can protect and deploy small unit to take out special priority targets. In modern war fair when was the last time you saw more then 7 men entering a single building on raids.

that is not the correct picture of the tarmour...as the specifications suggest that t is equipped witha 125mm main gun...a co-ax machine gun and an anti-aircrat gun...all that is visible are the smoke grenade launchers...surely it is the wrong pic or an incomplete one...
this link has the specifications of the tarmour and a quite hazy pic...Ordnance Factory Board

"It is slow yes, but again do you really want to be going 50 to 100 miles or even Km an hour in the middle of a crouded city."

I don't know...if making a "thunder run" through Baghdad by way of introduction is what you've in mind, it sorta helps.

IFVs and armor operate very carefully in cities. You rarely plan mounted assaults beyond the LOS of covering fire. That covering fire, btw, must be able to elevate to the highest possible target. In many cases, this isn't possible.

On the open battlefield, though, there's no substitute for speed when mounted in an IFV. None of the aforementioned vehicles will take a hit from modern ATGM much less 120-125mm main tank gun fire. You'd best move fast across open ground into dead-zones to survive.

None of these will equal a Bradley or Warrior's speed. Any hit's a bad hit in an IFV-any IFV. JMHO.
