You shall go youtube to check out those video of China HSR. The swedish minister who travel on China HSR is so impressive with its stabilities at even speed 300km/h. The Japan Shinkasen cannot even match China HSR stability. The China technology on track building is unrivaled. I can bet even Germany cant build the HSR that matches China one.

Though as per WIPO data China tops the world in patent applications in TOTAL SIZE and dominate industrial designs (50-55% of world total). Also check World Bank database:

However, China is still low on PER CAPITA basis. For 2013, China resident patent applications per million population was 519, though a sharp rise from a decade ago, ranks only 9th, still low compared to 3186 of South Korea which tops the world rank, followed by 2134 of Japan, 917 of Germany.

You may also find similar pattern in other industrial indicators, e.g. "Industrial robots per 10,000 workers", South Korea tops world rank, followed by Japan, and Germany. China shall sustain the current growth pattern (patent applications grew 12 times in a decade) in order to first match Germany in per capita, and then strive to close gaps with East Asian peers in the long run.

Germany is impressed too. That is why they are seeking procurement of parts in China for their own HSR.

Whatever those trollers will continue trolling 'Made in China' is inferior quality goods, no matter how many 'Made in China' they bought from supermarket near their home.

The data gives off quite a false illusion.

The reason why Japan and South Korea are further down the list compared to China is because the manufacturing hubs of their high-tech enterprises are largely located abroad. Hence, the technological exports of those nations are not necessarily reflective of their R&D strength or output.

Japan, South Korea, and the traditional IT giants of the 1970-80s still remain the pillars of "high-tech" development and distribution, easily noted by the sheer values of their IT companies and the monopolies they hold.
