World's Top 7 High-tech Exporting Nations | World Bank

Germany & Japan have really done a Miracle since WWII.
South Korea is another Miracle. I wish, Other nations follow their Template.

No wonder China is in a League of its own.

Yep, most of your posts are pro-China, I knew it.

But China's progression usually outpaces people's imagination, so it is understandable that many people cannot keep on track about China's current state.
That happens with many countries and keeping up with any single country is not top priority of most people. I did not know that Pakistan has 149 private TV channels though it is my home country but living abroad for most of my life. But I had old info and when he presented the info I just asked for a reference since I don't know him. It is good to know that our friend China is making good progress but that does not mean whoever says whatever will be believed. We need references. :pakistan::china:

Yes, the data are self-explanatory, these countries are indeed highest benchmarks of high-tech industrialization.

China is a continental-sized economy, it will take time to match the high-tech levels of East Asian peers, these are some feasible plans in my own opinion:
  • Continue to seamlessly integrate Taiwan with mainland, forming one homogeneous economy.
  • Continue to integrate South Korea, Japan, Germany, into high-tech supply chain, boosting high-tech trade, cross-investments and co-op (or constructive competition) between corporations.
  • China has a complete industrial base spanning from 1.0 to 4.0, however there are still weak links in the chain. China should focus all resources from human capital, infrastructure to fiscal strength on "Made in China 2025" as a national priority.
  • Ride on massive home market to secure global lead in infra techs e.g. transportation & logistics, power grid, communications, energy plants. With financial stimulus like AIIB or SWF or others, markets can be further expanded.
  • Following Japan's path, offshoring lower value-adding industries to more cost-effective overseas assets by global outbound investments. Other than off-shoring, relocation to north-western regions (close to Central Asia) should run in parallel.
  • Continue to re-invest fair but healthy amount of public money on defence industry which has deep supply chain and ripple effect on national high-tech ecosystem, e.g. space science, nuclear tech, aviation, maritime tech, material tech, supercomputer.

I have a piece of advice to all Members Never and I mean Never ever purchase a "Made in CHINA " product because you will cry in the END you don't trust me ask Pakistan Railways.
Now say this to 4 Billion people in the world who're using Chinese made/assembled products in some way or another.

Seems like, all this time Indians managed to make only one such thing which is 100% Made in India & that is..

BULLSHIT

lol, supa powa of 2012 is not interested in high-tech export, call centres are their pride.

Even TWC outsourced their customer call services to Indians in the US.

To be honest, for some countries, even if you give them all the designing papers, core technology, they cannot make the same HSR like China do, because China is the very few countries in the world that has established a complete industrial system with all the categories, we can build, make or design anything.

@Bussard Ramjet was questioning us why we openly published those core technology papers in journals...He thought one century later, every nation will come to the same level of development and technology. Here they are, all papers, public journals, we have shared, now pls build.

India exports software worth 100 BIllion. Makes 100 million dollars from satellite launching business.
But services exports are not listed here.

India should be happy, being ahead of Russia, Denmark, Spain, Israel:

@Martian2 As one way to interpret the high-tech exports figures, check also World Intellectual Property Indicators by WIPO.

PATENTS

In 2013, patent applications filed worldwide amounted to around 2.57 million, up 9% from 2012, after passing the 2 million mark in 2011. Applicants from China, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the US filed 82% of applications world-wide. The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) assists applicants in seeking patent protection internationally for their inventions, helps patent Offices with their patent granting decisions, and facilitates public access to a wealth of technical information relating to those inventions. By filing one international patent application under the PCT, applicants can simultaneously seek protection for an invention in 148 countries throughout the world.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

There were about 1.24 million designs in all applications filed (that is, design counts) in 2013, up 2.5% on 2012. Since 2011, China has accounted for the majority of design counts worldwide (50–55%).
